| **I don't know how I missed this story, but I am glad I found it now. I was talking about this very thing in chat not long ago. I have caught them doing this at my local Walmart for the past 6 months. Every single time I go, there is some kind of pricing error. I started writing the prices down on my list, next to the item, to compare at the register. On every occasion, they tried to overcharge me on 1-5 items, sometimes more. These items ranged from soda to cat food to underwear. It seems like no items are immune. I always ask the cashier to ring my items very slowly so I can see the price. They always seem annoyed, but I don't care. I would imagine I have saved my family well over 100.00 over the past few months by catching these errors. They tried to overcharge me by over a dollar on a bag of cat food the last time I was there. As you will see when you watch the video, they have been doing this for years. Personally, I think they knew, and were trying to get away with it. I am actually going to send this to my local news station so they can run their own investigation, and I encourage others to do so as well. I have a feeling they are not just doing this in California, and they should be exposed. Video Wal-Mart Settles In Overcharging Case - Local News Story - KCRA Sacramento Wal-Mart Settles In Overcharging Case Customers To Get $3 Back When Price-Scanning Errors Happen SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Wal-Mart customers in California will get $3 back when pricing mistakes are found at the cash register, Attorney General Jerry Brown said Monday. The settlement was reached after the California Attorney General's Office began an investigation into allegations that Wal-Mart stores across the state were scanning items at a higher price than the prices advertised on store shelves and signs. "In these tough times, this will help consumers as the holiday season approaches," Brown said in a statement. According to the settlement, whenever an employee becomes aware that a customer has been or is being charged a price higher than the lowest price currently listed, Wal-Mart will give the customer a $3 reduction on the item. If the item is less than $3, the customer will receive that item for free. Customers in Sacramento County were overcharged $2 for woven shirts in January and February 2007, according to the attorney general's office. Other price-scanning errors were reported in Stanislaus, Siskiyou and Tuolumne counties.
