Default Does Obama support our troops?

I've never really been big into policitics and I don't watch tv so I don't even get bits in pieces. I received an email today which read:

Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened.

He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle , got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheer leaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the ne ws is all fake.

In service,
CPT Jeffrey S. Porter
Battle Captain
TF Wasatch
American Soldier

This was the first I heard of anything like this, no surprise there though. I don't know that a word of it's true to be perfectly honest. I was just wondering if any one else had heard this and if there's any truth to it.

Let me guess. You got this in your E-Mail?

As Obama has said repeatedly, he supports our troops.

"OH MY GAWSH, HE DUSN'T SUPPURT OUR TROOPS. IF HEZ PREZIDENT, HE WILL PUT DEM IN CONTRINCHASION KAMPS!"

I mean really. Come on now.

Just a very small quote from Obama's Website and the Bills he has introduced:

Record of Advocacy: As a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Obama passed legislation to improve care and slash red tape for our wounded warriors recovering at places like Walter Reed. He passed laws to help homeless veterans and offered an innovative solution to prevent at-risk veterans from falling into homelessness. Obama led a bipartisan effort in the Senate to try to halt the military's unfair practice of discharging service members for having a service-connected psychological injury. He fought for fair treatment of Illinois veterans' claims and forced the VA to conduct an unprecedented outreach campaign to disabled veterans with lower than-average benefits. Obama passed legislation to stop a VA review of closed PTSD cases that could have led to a reduction in veterans' benefits. He passed an amendment to ensure that all service members returning from Iraq are properly screened for traumatic brain injuries. He introduced legislation to direct the VA and Pentagon to fix disjointed records systems and improve outreach to members of the National Guard and Reserves.

I haven't seen that article before, but it is interesting if it's true. From what I've heard about/from Obama (like every senator who has said a single word about the war) he supports the troops, but by no means does this mean he supports the war. But again, he could just be spewing bull and really hate the military. But honestly there are far worse things for a candidate, like being as old as my grandmother, or being more conservative than bush, or.............McCain sucks.

This is just dirty political propaganda. Do you pay attention to other spam you receive in your mailbox? This is no more credible than any other unsolicited message from someone you don't know.

Actually. I was catching up on CNN's website today. And when he went on his tour, with a Republican Senator, and the Republican Senator said that they could not get to the car, because everyone in the military surrounded him, asking for autographs and wanting to shake his hand. And there is also a commercial going around with massive amounts of our troops behind Obama than McCain.

If everything you got in email was true I would be able to have a 10 inch penis with fantastic credit and a smoking hot girlfriend that I found online.

The point is you should ALWAYS do your own research when someone makes a claim. I don't even trust the news networks. Research the claims, and always look at at least 3-4 different resources. And look at opposing viewpoints while at it too, you can tell the quality of the opposition by how they treat him.

The powers that be are hoping that you don't do the research and that you will stay ignorant of the facts. In the words of the late President Reagan, "trust, but verify".

Actions speak louder than words, and Mr. Obama has shown to be a very actionable person. He is not perfect, and I expect there will be times when he will stumble, but he is doing the best he can. I would rather live in a world of hope and opportunity, than one of fear and oppression.

Then again, this is just my opinion. Peace!

If I were in the military, doing my third or fourth tour in Iraq, a year after I was supposed to get discharged, and with no end in sight, I'd certainly be behind the guy who wants to end the war rather than the guy who has suggested that it might "have to go on" for 100 years.

If it goes on much longer, they're going to have to reinstate the draft. As one who was conscripted in 1970, being drafted is a cross between slavery and a jail term, with the added excitement of putting your life at risk. I would have gladly served in a war that was actually in defense of my country. The Vietnam War and Iraq War have had nothing to do with defending the US. Both were created for political purposes.

Buzzby, I also served in the Marine Corps during the first Gulf war. At that time I was gung ho and blinded by patriotism. It was until much later when I started when I started looking at the details and reason for the war that I discovered how manipulative our government was.

Knowing how all the lies and deceit led us into the current conflicts, there is only one candidate that is willing to get us out of it, while another wants to keep us there. Its like going down the wrong road and saying "since we're already lost let's keep going down the same path". very stupid rationale. You can probable figure out which candidate wants that.

If our government's decisions don't make sense, keep digging and you will find the ulterior motives.
