| Obama continues to dissapoint. His "change" mantra never seemed more hollow than it did last night. |

As far as the speech last night. Was absolutely amazing. I'll admit, Obama is one of my heroes, he inspires me to do more, and listening to his speech last night got me a tad bit teary eyed, for one. We witnessed history. Good job Obama!

| Uhm. You are talking about Biden! I am talking about Barack Obama. No where in my post about Barack Obama, did I mention Biden. (Murdock, I realize Biden's history, this is Obama's speech. Okay? Thanks.) |

I contend that Obama will bring more of the same as we've had for the past 8 years and his choice of Biden as a running mate is evidence of this. As far as Obama's speech, it was words.. Just words.. | |

| Did anyone else here see --as I did--there were several sign posters people were holding up outside the Invesco Field--when the cameras on CNN panned them: "Legalize MJ". I was suprised they showed it on national TV!

| So who do you think Obama votes with 95% of the time? it works both ways. a lot of Democrats are alike and so are Republicans. so your point is moot. Stop watching NBC, it the Democrats station. And before you say it I'm independent, i don't like to follow. i get my news from many sources not just TV |

| I tend to agree with Geraldine Ferraro when she said no one would have paid attention to Barak Obama if he was white. Just another liberal who pushes liberal ideas. Jimmy Carter version 2.0. |

| Why do I believe in him? Why am I not looking for line items on his policies? That is a difficult one. I have to admit, since we are being absolutely, brutally honest here- any republican I see running for any office is automatically branded a liar in my mind. I can't help it- I screamed in outrage as Bush took office, seriously, that the man was lying through his teeth to get the job should have been blatantly obvious to everybody- it wasn't, twice. Now, Barack comes along and I hear in his words and feel in his portrayal of his vision my own dreams for what an America should be. For eight years, indeed, for eight years before that, we've been caught up in hesaidshesaid politics and everybody saying what needed to be said to get elected- I'm fourty four and grew up with Viet Nam, trickle down economics, watergate, Iran-Contra and selective memory, Whitewater, Limbaugh, accusations and proclamations- the growing march of the religiuous right, a religion I don't belong to and one who is apparently not above legislating my life into a living hell because I don't believe in their god- I've worked those two and three jobs and watched my dear wife work two just to see that no matter how we saved and what we did to make the money we had stretch- we just couldn't survive a stupid damned illness- let one of the kids get sick... Everyone has told me their plan would fix it, everyone has promised me that if I vote for them, I'd no longer have to worry about that- all I'd have to do was work hard. That has never scared me, hard work. And what happened? We lost the dream, folks- in the blare of the turned up television news and the screaming of opposing parties reviling each other as hard, fast and loud as they can- here comes a guy who says what I would HAVE to say were I up there. We are Americans. We are BETTER than what we have given of ourselves lately- we are NOT afraid of a few fanatics, whatever their stripe, with a few bombs. We are a generous, kind people who help when it is needed and stand firm when that is necessary. It is our duty to lead this world to a better place and moreover, it is within our abilities and you know- I want to believe we will, I want it so desperately. You have to trust, somewhere, somewhen, and I'm starting with taking what I've heard from him at face value- yes, he writes his own speeches, I read that yesterday and I believe he will help us remember what we were and lead us to become what we must be. I'll have to say it, I remain independent so that I can vote the person, whenever I wish, with no guilty conscinece. I've voted Libertarian in general elections and I've voted Democratic, this time, the person getting my vote will be Barack Obama. Living here, in Germany, where I never, ever, ever have to worry if my babies get sick (It is all paid for, 100%- I pay more taxes for that, but you know, there is no trade off for the peace of mind.) I am sensitive to how it was back home and how it is here. I want that for the richest country in the world and refusing to help our own seems to me to be greed- taxes be damned, they can levy them if they will use them responsibly- but we need to take care of our own. Maybe that is why I left the christian church, so many opposing universal health care are sitting in church paying lip service to their gods command to help one another, to treat each other as you would treat yourself. We could, we don't.. Republicans are the worst of that lot, I have no trust left for them after Bush and Reagan- Nixon. Normally, I am a cynical old fart, but Barrack lets me dream and hope and I'd rather have that dream, even if it fails of it's promise, than more of what I have so loathed. Thank you for asking- I hope that helped. Kelly | |
