I can enjoy nudie stamps, I can enjoy "psychadelic" stamps....but that STILL doesn't compare to my love of guns...not to mention stamps rarely have the potential to save my life....the most they usually save me is harassment from bill collectors.

To those of you who have not been brought up around guns, from another who has:

Please don't belittle our way of life simply because it isn't familiar to you. We arent' belittling your way of life. We aren't calling you a tree hugger simply because you want to conserve resources for example.

Please don't call a potential lifestyle changing political stance as
Quote:
"something new with silly gun laws"
How would you feel if a candidate proposed to take away your right to free speech? How would you feel if a candidate proposed to take away your right to freedom of religion?

The right to bear arms should carry no less weight in your eyes.

Making stronger laws that carry more stringent penalties for gun law violations doesn't mean diddly squat to those who don't give a shit about the law already. Do you really think that Gang Member Punk will think twice about purchasing that automatic gun simply because he is required to purchase a permit first?

Would it be ok to require you to have a permit before writing a letter to the editor on any given subject? Do you want to be the subject of an FBI background search just to belong to a certain church?

Which of the Bill of Rights do you feel it is ok to remove? Which of the Bill of Rights do you want to live without?

The fact that Gang Member Punk has access to illegal firearms in the first place is a systemic failure. Not all the world faces this problem. I think that most are prepared to concede that the States does, but bringing the point up in argument and going c'est la vie has always seemed facile and defeatist to me.

I am not belittling anyone's lifestyle and I apologize if it seemed that way.

It's just....

I'll say it again, it's a 'compromise'.

Do you really want McCain leading this nation, more than Obama? If so, fine, vote for him, that is your right. But if your voting him strictly because of his stance on gun laws, I am sorry, but that is is selfish. America is in peril right now. We have a lot on our plate....

Our nation is facing an economic collapse, we are losing wars over sea, the reputation of our nation is tarnished, our infrastructure needs serious work, we have an exponentially growing national debt, our military is being overstretched, our health care system is fucked, social security and Medicare need help, jobs and homes are being lost left and right, and we are junkies for foreign oil which we buy, sometimes funding terrorist groups that wish to do us harm.....

Look objectively at the new presidents effects far past their stance on gun control and instead examine the entire candidates doctrine. Look closely at it's impact on our nation and our nations place in the world as well as how foreign nations would view the new president.

Can you honestly tell me then, that McCain is the better choice?

I stand by you, and am upset too about the future of our right to bear arms, in fact, I am considering making my first gun purchase soon.... I am equally upset about the slow deterioration of our nations power and our other civil liberties as well...

Can you honestly tell me then, that McCain is the better choice?

Here's a nice bullet point list to compliment what you said, spiral:

-When it comes to foreign relations, McCain has already shown a lack of knowledge and a lack of interest in communicating with our enemies (unless they first obey us ). Verdit: Foreign Relations/Policy Fail.

-When it comes to the economy, not only does McCain support many of the policies that got us into this mess, he *helped* get us into this mess by being such an admitted deregulator. Add that to his history with fucking people over in the Keating Scandal. And just for good measure, add the fact that 71% of America's academic economists support Obama's economic plan over Mccains. Verdit: Economic Experience Fail.

-When it comes to healthcare, McCain again wants to deregulate (he learned nothing from the economy). His plan is to fuck up healthcare for small businesses and offer only $5,000 *taxed* vouchers for people to get healthcare for their familes. $5,000? Who the hell can insure their family for $5,000?. Verdict: Healthcare Fail.

-When it came to the Iraq War, McCain was one of the few knuckleheads that said it would be over quick and we would be viewed as liberators. He was wrong... very wrong... thousands of dead american soldiers wrong. Now he expects us to believe him when he says he knows what needs to be done? Excuse me, but no you don't, and just because you were a POW and crashed more planes than King Kong doesn't give you the "experience" to lead our armies. Couple that with McCain's unreleased mental issues and anger problems and you have a guy that should have no right to the nuclear codes (as well as his veep). Verdict: Leadership/Judgement Fail.

I'm completely agreeing with Spiral... if you can find some legitimate way/reason to support this man, good for you. But if you are voting for him just because you like guns... that's pretty selfish. We all need to make sacrifices this election.

I don't think I ever said WHO I was actually voting for. I merely pointed out that any restriction on our rights, any rights, should be taken more seriously than labeling them as "silly gun laws".

I do actually listen to the debates, I watch the analysis afterwards, then the following morning, I lookup the facts to see who lied the most.

I don't really look to YouTube for my news, I also don't pay attention to the late night comedy spoofs, or the caricatures and comics.

I also haven't made up my mind yet.

YouTube - Joe Biden Mark My Words international...

What about the fact even his own vice-president is assured we'll face international crisis and attacks within the first 6 months of Obama's administration? Biden isn't even sure WHO it will be that attacks us, but seems relatively certain it could come from any of at least 5 natioons. More importantly, what happens if we ARE attacked? Do we sit down and ask the terrorists to play nice? I mean, Obama has repeatedly stated he wants to open dialog with our enemies. How, exactly, is that going to be productive, when these extremeists aren't motivated by politics, but by a religious frevor we cannot begin to comprehend? We're not going to abandom the Middle East or our interests there, and other than complete compliance with their terms, Muslim extremeists typically don't seem prone to compromise. All inall, if Biden's predictions hold true, we'll get to see just what Obama is made of....I just hope its not at the expense of American lives.

Um....

What? I respect your love for this Country. I share the same love and respect you have. But for you to somehow suggest, that since I didn't serve in the military makes me less of an American is ridiculous. Back on subject.

TM..... What's so wrong with speaking the truth? Example. We need a President who can be calm under pressure. John McCain throwing a hail marry to 'fix' the economy crisis.... Is far from calm. Give me a break.

Current Bush administration: Well before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Bush administration confronted its first serious foreign policy challenge and the event sent relations with a nuclear-armed rival into a nosedive. On April 1, 2001, an American spy plane collided with a Chinese fighter over the South China Sea and made an emergency landing on China's Hainan island where it and its 24 crew were detained. The ensuing standoff marked a low in U.S.-China ties and the young administration struggled for more than a week to get the crew freed as tensions soared and the Chinese government demanded an apology. The crew was finally released after 11 days when the U.S. sent a letter expressing regret for the incident that claimed the life of the Chinese pilot. China kept the damaged plane another three months.

Clinton administration: The first President Bush sent U.S. troops to Somalia in the waning days of his administration, a situation inherited by President Bill Clinton when he arrived at the White House in January 1993. Conditions deteriorated as warlords interrupted the troops' humanitarian work. Nine months later, Clinton was faced with the "Battle for Mogadishu," which precipitated the withdrawal of American forces from Somalia. The events of Oct. 3 and 4, 1993, during which 18 American soldiers died and 73 were wounded, became the basis for the book and film "Black Hawk Down." Clinton's decision to withdraw the troops as a result has been cited by conservative critics as boosting Islamic extremists like Osama bin Laden, whose al-Qaida network claims to have had ties with the Somali fighters.

President George H.W. Bush administration: The first President Bush faced his first foreign policy crisis as commander in chief shortly after taking office: the refusal of Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega to step down after elections in May, 1989. Bush's repeated calls for Noriega to respect the will of the people were ignored and the situation deteriorated. In October, Bush's reluctance to take bold action against Noriega led to charges he was a "wimp." Finally in December of that year, after the killing of an American soldier, Bush ordered U.S. troops to oust Noriega. The "wimp factor," as it was dubbed, is believed to have stung Bush badly and may have contributed to his quick decision to build up forces for what became the Gulf War after Saddam Hussein's Iraq invaded Kuwait a year later.

Reagan administration: President Ronald Reagan took office in 1981 intent on not allowing the Soviet Union to expand its influence in the western hemisphere. As he began his first term, Marxist rebels stepped up attacks in El Salvador with Soviet, Cuban and Nicaraguan backing. This prompted the new administration to begin sending billions of dollars to prop up the country's right-wing government despite allegations of atrocities and human rights abuses by Salvadorian troops. Reagan's Latin America policies, including his support for the anti-Sandinista "contras" in Nicaragua were directly affected by his decisions in El Salvador, which was embroiled in civil war for much of the 1980s.
