I've been thinking about this a lot too. It's completely ignorant to deny the possibility of an assassination. Throughout American history, African Americans have been murdered for less. It absolutely disgusts me that people are so ignorant and intolerant that they would consider killing someone just because of the color of their skin.

I am very scared that Obama might become a target... I am not expecting it would happen (since this kind of stuff has likely ran through Obama's mind as well). I'm sure that if it does occur, and he is killed, there will be hell to pay.... HELL I TELL YA!! I'd hope the U.S. government would finally put an end to the KKK or something. Nothing good can come from intollerance. Blacks, Asians, Jews, Christians, Whites, Mexicans,.... we're all here to stay, so get used to it!!

Seriously though... I'd freak out (like everyone else) and/or move to Canada to wait for things to cool down

There's no way I'd be ashamed of my country because it harbored one person ignornat to kill someone because of their race. I have a lot of pride in my coiutry, and while far from perfect, I've never been ashamed to be citizen of the United States and one more ingnorant person isn't going to push me to that extrreme. Do you think every German is ashamed of thier heritage and country because they gave rise to Adolf Hitler? I feel sorry for anyone who would suddenly be ashamed of their country because of the actions of one of its 305 million residents.
And what if the government decided to "put an end to" your local church youth group, because someone not affiliated with it in any way disagreed with the messages being taught? Like it or not, the very same freedom that allows us to communicate here on mj.com is the very same freedom exercised by the KKK. While I don't agree with their POV, I'll never deny their right to exist. Freedom is a double-edged sword, meaning it not only protects the groups you want to be a part of, but also those of which you despise. Freedoms apply to all US citizens equally, and just because a certain group's POV isn't popular doesn't mean they don't have a right to express themselves. I'm not saying I like th Klan or what they stand for, but that doesn't mean I believe they should be somehow exemptt from the same rights the rest of us have as US Citizens.

Honestly, I was thinking something similar... I would honestly consider leaving this country. Not immediately since I know I don't have the ability, but that would be my goal... to just leave this place behind.

And yes, I agree with you troublemaker, and i know it would be irrational... but I just can honestly see myself feeling utter shame to be an American if that happened.

A: No, it just focuses me. ADHD is like having a bunch of TVs in your head, all running different programs, and having no ability to control them. Marijuana not only appears to give me a remote, it also allows me to shut off all the other TVs sucking up the juice... which makes the TV I'm watching a bit brighter.

LOL...yeah, moving to Africa would be PERFECTLY rational ifsomeone shot Obama...because, like in Africa, they'd never allow such atrocities.....Oh wait...isn't Durfar in Africa? Isn't what is going on there a little more insane and irrational than the murder of one man? Exactly how would moving to africa be an improvement from a civil or even human rights POV? If someone shot Obama, I'd think that man was or woman was one sick son of a bitch....I wouldn't damn my entire country becasue of it.

Fair enough...previously the only destination listed was Africa, and fleeing the US to go to Africa because of one assassination just didn't make sense to me in any way. Honestly though, fleeing the country for any destination based on the actions of one man (or even group) is completely absurd to me. I believe in attempting to make this nation better, not fleeing it at the first sign of trouble. I have a hard time respecting the idea that the best course of action is to flee, rather than remaining to fight for what you believe in. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything, as the saying goes.
