Disclaimer: I am not trying to be combative or rude, and this post might get kinda long. That being said...

I pretty much ignore anything I see from "prophets" for the simple fact that if you were to say a lot of stuff about the future all the time, then eventually in the infinite time that follows your death, you'll be proven "right." This is despite all of the wrong predictions which would be marked off as "misinterpreted" or "yet-to-happen" depending upon their wording and such.

As far as the end of the world goes, I've heard of more than a few times that the earth was going to end, or [insert god here] was gonna come, or whatever else you could think of.

Also, I don't remember being present for the whole "antichrist" vote when we chose Hitler and Napolean. Speaking of which, what kind of cheap-ass antichrist do you have to be in order to have successors. Antichrist seems to me like a pretty final or ultimate type of thing. But I'm not religious so maybe I've missed something about antichristness and whatnot. I guess that's a different convo altogether...

And as for the racist remark, me being a 20-year-old black male, I can attest to the fact that almost every black man over 40 and quite a few under that age (not me, fyi) harbor racist views or feelings on at least some level. I only say almost because I'm sure some don't, but I haven't met any and I've known/met quite a few black men in my lifetime. In the black community, racist old men aren't even percieved as racist anymore. Sadly, it's pretty much the norm.

Rev. Wright's outbursts and comments are much more fiery and angry than the general mistrust or stereotypical view of the men mentioned above by far. But as with any group of people, you'll have your outliers(sp?). Going from what I said above, if I were to meet him, he might strike me as a bit over-the-top, but I wouldn't be apalled at his views simply because his type is tolerated and almost expected in the black community (sans a bit of his intensity...).

None of the above if me condoning or endorsing anything he has said or implied. While I don't agree with what he says, I can understand his anger/frustration in the same way I can understand a white racist who was raised a certain way. I guess what I'm saying is that Wright and his kind have been "raised" by society to become the way he/they is/are. When they were my age, white people represented either legal oppression in the form of unfair laws and court practices, or societal oppression in the form of rudeness and such. So I don't agree or condone it, but I understand it.

Not to mention the fact that I never saw any families who left the church paraded out by the McCain campaign as people who left based on principle (which I'm sure they looked for). This leads me to believe that this whole thing was just a few typical "angry old black man" outbursts that were blown out of proportion by a populace that doesn't realize that all of their old black friends have similar views to some extent.

Once again, I'm not condoning it, but I don't really expect much different from him considering his past. And I'd really hate to be called racist because my dad says/thinks a few questionable things every once-in-a-while (which I always correct him on).

And yes, I pretty much agree that all politicians (and most people in general) are at least partially full of shit...

Dude, don't get me wrong, I ignore prophets, but if it does turn out all those fancy verses are true, then the anti-christ WOULD be Obama. Other than all the aforementioned things, someone (I forgot which stoner prophet) said that he'd be the leader of the most powerful country on earth.

OK, so as said before. Most "prophets" are bullshit because if you say enough things long enough, something will eventually happen that's close enough to what you said. Also, most things that are said by "prophets" are such general statements that can loosely fit a variety of things. He was to come from Africa? Ahhh well, his dad is close enough, right? Great speaker? I consider myself a great speaker, so does that mean I'm the anti-christ? I also imagine there is quite a few people out there that are African and great speakers. Well, when you consider that I don't believe in any man made religion, I don't give much credence to the idea of him being the anti christ! Though, from what I know of what the "anti christ" is supposed to be, he could be it.

Also, I wouldn't say that Obama is racist, I think his wife is a closet racist. But I haven't seen any actions by Obama to lead me to believe he is a racist...

Did he say because she's black? I can understand him saying that about her. I don't knwo why, but she has just always struck me as an angry woman, kind of like Hillary Clinton. So it wouldn't surprise me to find out she has lots of anger towards someone/group of people/everyone.
