"True Colors"? Please elaborate. "White" america is the major "ethnic" group in this country with something like 70 to 73% of the population. So whats the big deal about the majority running the country. In England, the English run their country. The same applies to France. Why? Because they are the majority.
Why? I thought the post was pretty simple, but I guess instead of you understanding, maybe I should just break it down.......

I just wonder if we are really ready for a black president. I don't think the people of this country are ready for a woman or a black man to be president.

When did you learn that the majority rules in this country or any other for that matter? That's just bull and I think you know it. If we can't get the "majority" to vote or even register, then how in the world do you think the "majority" rules?

We will just have to wait and see. I think the most significant mistake the Dems made was not putting up a white man to run for president. In a lot of ways I hope it works for the country, and we can see beyond the color of his skin or whether she has a penis or not, but I think our "true colors" will show the majority of voters will go with McClain if given the choices they have now. Equal rights and womens rights didn't happen a hundred years ago, it happened back in the sixties. I don't think that's enough time for the citizens of this country to adjust from their old thinking about these issues, and I also believe that if it's Hillary or Barack against McCain, we're going to have another war hero as president.

Which isn't really that bad of an idea to me........

If Obama is the nominee, McCain or whoever is the republican nominee doesn't stand a chance.
I disagree, I think McCain is moderate enough to attract the majority of the independent vote. Barack on the other hand, as Viper has already stated, is FAR too polarising of a candidate to have a realistic chance, IMO.

Are you telling me that the French in France don't run their country? Or the British in Great Britain? I believe you've hit your head and should go to the doctor immediately.

This country is ready to elect a "qualified black man or a qualified white woman". But if you send an ultra liberal black or white person out as your candidate, you are going to lose. America doesn't want "tax and spend". America doesn't want big government enabling people to live their lives on welfare.
America doesn't want neverending social programs that benefit only a few or just a specific ethnic group.

Yeah yeah yeah....America for the most part is pretty conservative when it comes to privacy and fiscal policies....at least until FDR came around.

After 8 years of George W. Bush, I don't think people care about buzzwords like "welfare queen" or "tax and spend." Frankly, I think Americans are just wanting a president that they can like. A friendly man who gets serious when he has to, a likeable face....and a laugh that doesn't sound like an evil smirk....

Hillary is just like her husband, which is why I won't vote for her. I hate those slick politicians....they'll shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time, with a smooth grin on their face. Whitewater....questionable funds, firing of those US attorneys.... nope, I don't need that. 8 years of Bush makes me want Obama a lot more than Hillary.

Jimmy Carter was a great guy but sucked as a president and commander in chief.

I was all for Ron Paul until the moment he decided to sit on the fence as far as the theory of evolution goes. Since then I have been unsure of where my vote is going.

Obama is very close to having it. He is the ONLY politician to ever inspire, the only one that makes me feel good about my country... and patriotism in general. Part of it I am sure is the unprecedented rhetorical skills of the guys, but whatever. After the 8 years of complete and enraging nonsense brought to us by Bush and Co.... well I am just really really ready to believe in something.

If he fails? If he doesn't hold up to the promises and implications? Well I guess then I am officially jaded. GG

This election is laughable, all the candidates are jokes, I voted for Bush twice, and given the choices, well, I'd vote for Gore or Kerry before I'd vote for McCain or Obama.

Regardless of who wins, in 4 years they will be replaced after doing a pretty miserable job, and I'd venture to guess they will be replaced by the most libertarian candidate at that time.

We have a choice between a tax and spend, hate america first, inexperienced pansy liberal democrat. Vs a tax and spend, hate americans first, part of the problem old guard overzealous warhawk.

In other words: douche v. turd sandwich.

People think this country has problems now...

I was watching a news program and the Obama camp is upset at some Right wing talk show host for using his full name. Barak Hussein Obama. If your name alone is polarizing then you got some serious problems.

Since the Right is using Mr. Obama's middle name to imply that he's got some sort of connection to terrorism, I'd say his campaign has good reason to complain about the way his full name is being used. The Right is desperate because only a miracle will keep the Republicans in the White House in November.
