Just the opposite.
That inane brand name game has about run it's course. Sure, those that can't realistically debate the issues have gotten a lot of millage out of villainizing the term "liberal". But that says two things -
1- Lob enough shit and you'll end up stinking of it.
2- The average citizen thinks for the longest time that it's just mud, can't resist playing in it, but eventually wants a breath of fresh air (even in spite of themselves).

And now that we've quite possibly found someone, who thankfully is a social liberal, we can take advantage of our shrinking window of opportunity to abide by our duty as the most powerful nation on earth.
First, by defeating terrorism where it festers most: in the no longer hallowed halls of this once great nation.
Only then will the rest of the world truly throw in their lot and the juggernaut of peace on earth shall reign unfettered.

Sure, it's just a start but given that we threw off the corrupt yoke of the rich and powerful some two hundred + years ago it's fair to say we can do it again.

Realistic? Absolutely. Idealistic? Sure -
"But only in their dreams can men be truly free. 'Twas always thus, and always thus will be."

LOL what makes you think we threw off the yoke but rather changed it out with another type of yoke?

We're slaves, huh? Hoo-boy.

Yeah, to some degree, we don't know what we're getting, and our selection is limited to a group of elite people who are potentially all selfish, money-hungry or power-hungry liars. Is that a reason to not participate in the election at all? What makes you think Clinton and McCain are less sleazy?

Of course we changed it out for another - eventually.
That's the whole point of jettisoning the status quo

Yea, some bed of thorns for the hundreds of thousands who voted for GW (many of 'em twice, if anything so mindless is possible) and are lining up for McCain: more of the same...

I really do hope Obama does get elected, being from the UK it doesnt matter much anyway but I think a bit of variety instead of a white president will do and all this attention might stop those Republicans and there backwards ways.

I don't see any black people in charge of the UK. There are black people who live in the UK, right?

Yo JohnBoy,
One has nothing to do with the other, so why obfuscate?

That was a good Bill O'Reilly impersonation.

My point was concerning variety in the UK political scene.

Well even if there are asians and blacks in the UK to be honest most politicians are white middle-class people who lead people they know nothing about(Like in the USA)

(I just looked on wikipedia the county I live in is 99% white, what is this Alabama?)

Well anyway I think a bit of ethnic diversity will do any country good(unless you live in the Former Yugoslavia )

Because true diversity comes from people who look different, right?
