| "One of us"? That's a heck of an assumption. Keep posting and watch the fur fly ![]() I'll take a wild guess and assume you meant his stance on the legalization of marihuana. To that end, here it is, short and sweet ... Kucinich Says Legalize It 12/19/03 For the first time since the days of Jimmy Carter, a prominent presidential candidate has called for an end to marijuana prohibition. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), a progressive and therefore long-shot candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, quietly announced on his campaign web site last week that, if elected, he would end federal prohibitions on the use of marijuana by adults and would instead move to regulate it like alcohol. "Statistical evidence shows that marijuana use follows a pattern very similar to that of alcohol," wrote Kucinich. "Most marijuana users do so responsibly, in a safe, recreational context. These people lead normal, productive lives -- pursuing careers, raising families and participating in civic life... A Kucinich administration would reject the current paradigm of 'all use is abuse' in favor of a drug policy that sets reasonable boundaries for marijuana use by establishing guidelines similar to those already in place for alcohol... A Kucinich administration would work to implement a drug policy that removes responsible recreational users and medical users of marijuana from the criminal justice system, in order to redirect resources toward the following goals:
Visit Kucinich for President 2008

| Dennis is my representative and I've been exchanging letters with him since he got into Congress. Prior to that he was the Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio and a good one. I live in a Cleveland suburb. He definitely has got his shit together about marijuana prohibition and The Drug War. It's too bad that he'll never get into the White House. Two reasons: he doesn't look "Presidential" and he's too liberal.

| I agree with Buzzby...there are several candidates that caught my eye. But won't make it because of lack of support or proper funds and media attention. He would be nice. Personally I can't vote on someone because of just their stand on marijuana prohibition. But if Kucinich made it on the ballot id most likely vote for him.

| he's a serious kook. nice that he understands the issue. but a complete kook, however well-intentioned. he was NOT a good mayor. he sent the city into default. then again, he was just a kid when he was elected. |

| Reagan increased our national debt to the largest it has ever been. Add up all administrations' debt since George Washington and Reagan's debt is still larger!! With that fact being established, Bush is responsible for an even larger amount of debt than Reagan. We can do a lot to change this by simply going back to pre-bush tax schemes. The upper 10 percenters will be the only ones complaining about it. That being said, we need someone who is a good administrator and sees his job as working for us not a corporation. Kucinich definitely fits that mold. Too bad the media and most of country latch onto whatever image and spin that is first fed to them. If we had a progressive liberal like him in the white house in 2001 we'd have only gone to Afghanistan. Major peace negotiations would be ongoing with the Palestinians and Israelis The budget would be balanced We would not have astronomical debt We would still have all of our rights entact under the Constitution Katrina victims would have got the relief they needed on time Children would not be getting left behind. The US would be leading the way to combat global warming We would be on our way or already into insuring that all americans have healthcare access Our reputation around the world would be a lot better than it is today But because Kucinich reminds us more of Mr. Rogers than John Wayne, he can't be President. We are a shallow bunch. Last edited by green medicine : 08-25-2007 at 03:03 PM. |

| I hear ya.. . But when I compare pre Bush tax rates with the astronomical debt that our children's children will be paying off, I'll take the old supposedly "liberal" tax rates over the conservative "put it on my tab" approach any day. |

| Yeah I know. Republicans want to spend money on military and not collect taxes to pay for it. Democrats want to spend money on social programs and raise taxes to pay for it. They all want your money somehow or the other... |
