Dying or a sick family member, ok. A politician? F that. No way, I have a spine, your pushing that same attitude/brainwashing of our elders that got us here.

America is toast.

You either deal with it or you are part of the problem!

Seriously folks, this guy isn't any different than any other politician. He's just black, thats all.
Having a criminal record for life in some states as well. I know it is effecting my life in a big time way. I am a professional stuck because of getting arrested five years ago for one joint. It has major ramifications if you are a licensed professional. Big time. Sucks because the money was great and I am great at the career.

There's only so much he can do as president. He might put more competant people in charge of the ONDCP or end raids on MM patients, but that's about the best you can hope for. Anything else would be too controversial, including putting forth an executive order to end the War on Drugs.

We can hope, guys, but we won't be seeing an end to the War on Drugs any time soon. I wish it were so, but it's political suicide.
No, it's really not. The majority of voters support it. It's a no brainer for a politician with backbone and some integrity. Oh right they won't let us have one of those in office for President. Some democracy, I mean Republic, it isn't either, is it?

Re-classifying marijuana is a great move that a legitimate President would and should do.

Giving people a criminal record for life for one joint is extreme and cruel punishment for a non crime when every potential employer can see it.

I'm at the point where I think the govt. needs to pay people like that reperations.

I'm serious about that.

Reperations to the people that have truly been screwed personally for no good reason at all, except greed.

I don't know if this applies to every state but in my state if someone is a first time marijuana offender they are allowed to take the program when they go to court. They get maybe 1 year probation and go to a drug and alcohol treatment program. When they complete the program and stay clean and a year goes by without the person getting arrested for something criminal their court record goes clean.

Jeez...

I still can't believe people are getting arrested for that low amount..

Ever watched Spike TV and seen DEA? I saw them find some guy with a few grams and they just said it'd be a fine. Kind of weird.

Anyway, with Obama, we don't know a whole lot. What we do know is:
  • There are a LOT of people who use marijuana and want it legalized. Forums aren't really that popular, and look at how active this one is. That's proof right there.
  • He's either going to get voted in, or he'll lose. If he gets in, how do we know he isn't just appealing to the kids again?

Besides, we don't need all these older seniors' bullshit any more. They'll be dead and their companies in our possession soon enough anyway! Ppft! They grew up with their strict Christian overtones and that all drugs are horrible, and so they have the mindset to block it from us too. That's bullshit again! WHAT ABOUT ALCOHOL FOR GOD SAKES! Look what criminalizing did for America. Bootlegging and organized crime were invented.
  • We're going to smoke our pot whether they like it or not. Too bad for them. Nothing they can do about it, am I right?
Hopefully Obama gets in, and he isn't BSing about this decriminalization. I think a lot of younger idiots spending all of their money on pot and missing class will go down a lot, and people who use it responsibly will finally have it. Hell, I'm underage and use it all the time, but I don't waste all my money on it, and I go to class - Pot doesn't make 'em not go to class. They're just dumb kids.

SO. How'd we get in this stupid predicament?

He's flip flopped on the issue so much, there's no telling what his real position is.

The majority of voters may support medical marijuana, but I've never seen ANYTHING that says the majority of voters support ending the drug war. At best, the Gallup polls have shown approximately 33% of voters support legalizing marijuana.

Andrew Mellon that was the banker for the Dupont company and he was aslo secretary of the Treasury Department in our government and helped his nephew in law Harry Anslinger get the job of becoming America's first drug czar who pushed for the laws to outlaw hemp and marijuana. William Hearst was the guy to get the marijuana propaganda going in the media using his newspapers.

I net if you looked into you would find that to be basically BS. In my state they call it a clean record because the disposition is sealed (which they call a good thing but stupid as anything to do because the employer can see the arrest but not what for which instantly makes them think you killed somebody or something!) or it's "continued without a finding", "dismissed" but it still shows up on our State CORI which is the MA state criminal database it holds every arrest and is given to any employer that wants it. The arrests show up on there even if you are found innocent, dismissed, etc. In my state you have to wait 10 years to get it wiped off, then you have to plea with a state rep and a judge? And they call us a progressive state? Can you imagine what is like in the worst state in the union? This is the system, the lawyer play games but they always find another way to get you caught up, RMV, Social Services, CORI reports, financial aid, jobs. You might live in a dream state, I'm sure there are a few and that's the point, we need them all to be like that.
