Default [Invitation] Help Us Celebrate the Two Biggest Victories in Drug Policy Reform History

It'snow ten years since California voters approved Proposition 215 tolegalize marijuana as medicine. More than one hundred thousand peopleare now legal patients and almost a dozen states have followed suit. It's now five years since Proposition 36 -- requiring treatmentinstead of incarceration -- entered into force in California. More thanone hundred thousand people have obtained treatment instead of a jailcell, and taxpayers have saved hundreds of millions of dollars. Thislaw now rates as the most significant sentencing reform since therepeal of alcohol Prohibition.
DPA played a pivotal role in both these victories, which put drugpolicy reform on the map of big league politics in the United States.
Please help us celebrate these momentous anniversaries.I know most of you can't make it to San Francisco this November 15 forthe actual celebration, but there's no better time than this toÂ*send your best wishes and add your name to the festivities with a contribution.
We will gather on November 15 at the City Club of San Francisco tocelebrate these anniversaries and to honor three dear friends of DPA:philanthropists and DPA supporters John Sperling (Apollo Group) andGeorge Zimmer (The Men's Wearhouse), and our own Marsha Rosenbaum(Safety First Project). Mayor Gavin Newsom is co-chairing the eventtogether with Assembly Member Mark Leno and Assembly Speaker FabianNúñez.
PleaseÂ*make a contribution now to honor both our work and these three remarkable individuals, or register to attend. Every person who contributes to this event will have their name printed in the evening program.
For more information please contact Laura Pardieck, events!,Â*by emailÂ*or by phone at 916.608.8686.
Sincerely,
Ethan Nadelmann
Executive Director
