This is some sick news! That means I can settle for some mids now instead of going on a wild good chase for some nice headies. Good deal!

Will the potency really keep continually rising like that? Won't it reach some kind of plateau?

Buzzby was making a joke at the prohibitionist groups, at their 'exponential growth of potency' arguments.

My understanding was that baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1954, so they'd be between 54 and 62. That was the big bulge in the birth stats and they tapered off significantly after that.

Of course not. It was a joke. How could something be more than 100% of one of its components?

Definitely. High potency dope is more difficult to produce and too expensive for the masses. It's a plant. You can push it as far as its genetics allow, but there are limits. The highest potency I've seen recorded is 30% THC. I suspect that's about as far as they can go.

A few years ago they were making statements like, "Marijuana today is forty times as potent as it was in the 70s." Since marijuana with less than 3% tends to give you nothing but a headache, the "new weed" must be 120% THC.

Maybe in slower times the generations could be delineated in 20 year chunks, but the way that things change so quickly now culturally, I don't think that quite applies any longer...be that as it may, what Buzzby says is true..anyone old enough to have gone to Woodstock without thier parents is looking at retirement. As for me, I will be retiring in two weeks and would love to spend my dotage growing that high end stuff legally...maybe some day

Default I blogged this harshly

over at Daily Kos and have posted it here at Marijuana.com for those averse to reading there. I have also lniked it to BUZZFLASH. If you would, please consider BUZZING it asap.

Over at Kos it garnered 178 comments in just a few hours, and spawned a lot of good discourse. It is NOT preaching to the choir over there. There is huge support for reform but a lot of "liberals" have this idea that this is either not important, now is not the time, it'll cause Democrats to lose everything, or some other form of hysterics.

Most people are behind this now but there are many people in the offices necessary to get the rules changed who are die-hard believers in the propaganda. You really should consider checking out the comments there.

My harshness is focused on making the die-hard believer angry enough to go search for links and facts to back themselves up.

I encourage others to take this approach over trying to endlessly regurgitate "facts" to people who are too emotional about the topic to process them.
