| some can drive high some cant. simple as that. I remember when I first started getting stoned and driving. I bumped into a couple things, but I was probly mudding or driving in water. But I totalled that truck while I was drunk one day, it wasn't even my fault. Just a $150 fine and a slap on the wrist. I was lucky as I was 17. I never drive while on alcohol ever again, and I can not afford the risk. |

On the other hand, you can get charged for impaired or negligent driving without even touching one drink, one smoke, one pill, anything. It is hard to determine at which point is someone impaired, and what is the cause of their impairment. Statistically, a drowsy or sleepy driver might be more likely to cause an accident than an awake one. Were they to blow a line of cocaine to wake them up, perhaps the statistics would improve. Are they now less impaired or more impaired?

| I've driven while high on and off for decades. In fact, when I'm out on lonely stretches of highway traveling though some of the spectacular scenery that this country offers in abundance, it's a wonderful, and often, transending experience. Buzzby's right to a large extent. It's a matter of dosage specific to each individual as to whether they become impaired or not. Like so many things we do that have safety ramifications, it's a simple matter of common sense. That said, I do believe that drinking alcohol will impair a driver significantly faster than is the case with marihuana...

| LOL, oh man, you just reminded me of my first night out driving stick... It was also my first, and only, opium laced joint. We were trespassing in a secluded spot and the cops showed up to push us along. What's funny is how messed up we were, when I tried to drive off, there was a huge tree branch I needed to drive over, but didn't see... I was trying to rev the engine and ease off the clutch. The cops must've cracked up too because it took me about a minute just to start moving. |

| i think its also important to note that its easier to realize if youre too impaired to drive while smoking versus drinking as well as being a little high and driving is a lot safer than being a little drunk. but agreeing with adam, driving super blazed is still unsafe. |

I've heard the same arguements from people who like to drink and drive. I can find people who swear up and down that they drive just fine when they have a six pack under their belt. Do we leave it up to the individual to determine whether or not they are capable of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated? | |
