IN THE MAIL: North Dakota needs medical marijuana laws

Where do your doctors learn about the drugs they prescribe? Pharmaceutical companies pay very large salaries to salespeople who teach doctors about the company’s drugs. These are NOT doctors, scientists or chemists. These are salespeople who only know what their company tells them.

They are the ones who lobby your doctor to prescribe drugs, with incentives and free samples, so you can be their guinea pig. These are the same people who brought you drugs that killed thousands before they were removed from the market. And it took a lot of effort to get them removed.

By contrast, marijuana never has killed anyone history, although it has been used as medicine for more than 5,000 years. “Big Pharma” lobbies to keep medical marijuana illegal, even though it has been shown to be a safer, more effective medicine for thousands with a multitude of illnesses.

Before the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, more than 50 percent of the drugs on the market contained cannabis (aka marijuana).

Today, there is a massive movement to return to natural medicines, herbs and diet. People are realizing that drug companies have no interest in curing anything. Their goal is to extend the time that you need their drugs and to produce profit. If one drug causes you problems, they prescribe a second drug to combat the first drug’s effects.

We need to take back our health from the Food and Drug Administration and Big Pharma. We need to enact medical marijuana laws in North Dakota and save lives.
