Fuel, food, fiber, medicine, intoxicant, all from one renewable plant. It's mind boggling, of only we could get the politicians to see....

If only logic and reason were more important.

Thumbs up youth and moderation

I agree with this, I think that many kid at the age of 13-18 abuse cannabis. If this was legalized it would be harder to get and possible eliminate Class II drug use for some. Marijuana is considered a gateway drug because its easy to obtain and its obtained through dealers of drugs. So, hold Obama to his word and decriminalize marijuana make its harder to obtain through youth and show that it needs to be used in moderation when at the appropriate age.

I don't think he's ever said anything about decriminalizing MJ but rather has made some vague promises concerning MMJ.

All Obama has promised he will end DEA raids in states that have MMJ laws. Nothing more, nothing less. Even that promise is most likely a low priority.....

^^ I'm sure it's an extremely low priority.

During the campaign the only thing he promised was stopping the federal raids, but in 2004, he said that he was for decriminalization.

YouTube - Barack Obama on Marijuana...

However, during the campaign, his stance on decrim flip flopped more than once.

Here's my feeling about it all. He knows the problem, and he wants to fix it, but he knows that it isn't in his political best interest to make it an important point right now. If he's re-elected, or if the economy rebounds before his first term is over, we may all be surprised by the progress he makes.

In other news, Oregon may legalize (yes legalize) marijuana as soon as 2010. It's called the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act. Let's hope they get the donations/signatures they need to combat the all powerful DEA. As we've seen, money tends to win elections.
