| "Make the most of hemp seed. Sow it everywhere." -- George Washington Lately, I have been thinking about the process of thought itself. This process is analogous to what happens when a seed is planted. Properly nurtured, a thought will grow like a seed, follow a 'natural' life cycle, which will in turn, create new thoughts, just as a plant would create new seeds. Both occur in never ending cycles. This seed analogy has been the inspiration of countless hours of contemplation for me. Seeds are the blueprints of a living plant being, preserved within a shell, which protects it. It is the essence of life contained within a compact, protective shell. When conditions are favorable, the seed will sprout, sending forth a root in search of life sustaining nutrients. As the roots extend into the soil, they force the seed to break through the surface, where the seed sheds its protective shell. As the seed becomes a plant, its leaves are liberated, and perform the function of absorbing light, which the plant uses for energy. Utilizing nutrients from the soil, light from the sun, and the available moisture, a plant will grow, prosper to maturity, and repeat the life cycle by creating new seeds, which will in turn, repeat the process. Genesis (2:29) And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat: and it was so. (1) When thoughts are expressed and shared with others, they are like seeds. If conditions are favorable, shared thoughts will take hold, sprout roots within the mind, where they can grow to maturity, and become a thought that can be easily shared with others, repeating the process again. This is a natural process, whereby over time, the seeds of thoughts are shared and cultivated, and in time, bear more fruit within a culture. When seeds of thought are planted, given the nutrients of information, the watering of contemplation, and the light of consciousness, an idea will sprout, and have clarity within the mind. Cannabis can be likened to a fertilizer for the mind, causing roots to grow and take hold deep within the subconscious mind, and give rise to a profoundness that otherwise does not occur when the seeds of thought take hold in the shallows of normal waking consciousness. While the plant resides in the conscious mind, its roots reside in the subconscious mind. The one thing that has always amazed me while under the influence of cannabis is that I am able to form far more profound thoughts. Is that because it allows for more interactivity between the conscious and subconscious mind parts? In the same way the nutrients of the soil feed the growth of the plant, the more nutrients, the healthier the plant. Sow a thought and you reap an act; Sow an act and you reap a habit; Sow a habit and you reap a character; Sow a character and you reap a destiny. -- Samuel Smiles When you express your opinions to others, do you ever notice that they form an opinion of that information over time? You planted the seed that sprouted the thought that formed their opinion. They then spread those seeds to others as they pass on their opinion. Free the plant, plant your seed. -- KottonMouth Kings (1) Quoted from the Holy Bible – Red Letter Edition, Concordance. Published by The Syndics of the Cambridge University Press. (There is no date but it was presented to my mother and father on their wedding day on Sept 2nd 1966) LogosNote: Special thanks to everyone who provided feedback on this work, and extra special thanks to HigherSelf for his help with the wording of these thoughts.

| While the plant resides in the conscious mind, its roots reside in the subconscious mind. I was speaking with one of the members of the Smirking Chimp on Sunday. She has had an idea to make a CD cataloging the problems and abuses rained down upon us by the Bush Administration. As she got this idea and started working on it, other things began to happen as well. A project came to life; took on a life of it's own. She got permission from all sorts of artists to use their songs and background music.... she got releases, set up royalty payments for the artists companies that demanded them and she got it printed, pressed, packaged and it's available. (I will get one soon and review it.) She was needing advertising and publicity......then C-Span called her. She had won a contest there and was going to be on air with them for it. And since THAT happened she has been on a couple other progressive radio shows. Her publicity is coming right when she needs it. The events of our time attempt to suppress the human spirit - the threatening of our Constitutional and civil rights, the attempts to eliminate dissent, the attempts to tell the truth through a media hopelessly emasculated by "embeddedness". Her project would not be getting off the ground if there was not a definate need for it. Her project is the plant bearing seeds and fruit, and it is rooted in the Human Spirit.

| I'm always amazed at your insightfulness Doc. There are no coincidences, and nothing happens by chance. Period. These are difficult beliefs to swallow, and yet, the universe is able to re-arrange itself, turn itself inside-out, to accomadate a myriad of beliefs of billions of people. Folks constantly weave in and out of probable realities, doors open and close, people are prompted to say this and do that, most of it occuring at an unconsious, sort of mystical level...a synchronicity that boggles the mind. | |

| I have thought for some time now that what we are aware of is but a grain of sand on a sand covered world of reality... Which begs the question: What do the mind and a parachute have in common? ![]() |
