| Oakland Considers Pot Club Crackdown KPIX-TV | 02-17-2004 The PIXPage Staff Oakland's city council is set to decide on a proposal to tighten restrictions on cannabis clubs and medicinal marijuana. Under the proposal, only four cannabis clubs will be allowed in Oakland, and marijuana consumption would be banned on the premises. Additionally, patients would be only allowed to grow 18 pot plants for medical purposes, instead of 72. Protestors say the proposal would force medicinal marijuana users to take their dosage on the streets instead of a controlled, safe environment. Sunday, activists planted pot seeds at Oakland's City Hall to protest the proposal. » 02-17-2004

Anyway, I think Oakland is doing the right thing. For mmj to be taken seriously, it needs to be a little more regulated than it currently is. And 72 plants is a joke-how could anyone personally smoke that much weed? 18 seems far more reasonable.

| I think its cool that you can sit in a club and converse with other medical users. I got to use a Vaporizer which was a Volcano while I was there and that made me decide that I want one of these 500 dollar contraption. Although you shouldn't smoke before driving but look at bars. Go sit out in the street by a bar around 2:00 AM in Cali and see these drunks flock out like crazy. I don't think that they should stop smoking inside. 18 plants sounds reasonable right... Well if you have 4 mother plants right. And you decide to clone 20 plants. As soon as they all root you now have 24 plants. That well exceeds the 18 plants. If you eat pot or Make Hash Oil out of it. Than your gonna need a whole lot of weed.... I think the limit should be 100 plants 10O Sq Feet of growing space and up to 4 pound per year of dried processed marijuana... That's 2 harvest at 2 pounds each. That is not hard to do. And I can go through 2 pounds in 6 months. Remember these are medical patients and should not have to consume there time Making there medicine let alone to enjoy it. ![]() |

The DEA wants particularly JURIES to BELIEVE that 1 seed = 1 pound of dried atomic bud, more powerful than what level Nagasaki. 72 plants does not eqaul - in reality - 72 pounds. I am always running out. I would like to be able to keep a lot around so it doesnt happen, but I cant. Its a week here and a week there. ANY time sombody wants to hold more than a joint, the government wants to make the BOGUS case that you are "trafficking". They either are totally ignorant or purposefully want to look past the desire many people would have to get a quantity and simply have it at home - in the freezer, with all the other perishable consummables. It's probably on purpose because the whole goal of prohibition to begin with it stifle industrial production. And when you consider the DEA in particular, it is a grotesque marriage of meanness and stupidity. (and a desire to avoid the unemployment line.)

| If the grower is using the "sea of Green" method then 18 plants may not be enough. It depends on how much they need to use and how they use it. If they can not smoke it but have to make cannabutter instead they will need more. |

And as much as I like brownies...... I had not even considered this. A lot of people - oddly - dont want to smoke pot but still want the [officially non-existent] medical benifets and they cook with it. On that note, I see that plant limits are simply useless, and the complaints about the numbers of plants and "trafficking" are just one more artifact of prohibition. I now make a motion on the floor that discussions of plant limits are ridiculous and a distraction from tasks at hand. This is America - people should have all the plants they want.

| This is america and there definatly should not be limits any were on a plant! Ihad not considered the other methods of cannabis cunsumption. I don't eat mine because I don't like the high as much and the amount needed is a bit tough on my stash Keep inmind the government makes no distinction bewteen "seedling" and 20-foot tree. "Plant" = plant. Sad but true ![]() |

| Heh, next thing you know they will be limiting the number of tomato plants one can grow. It is the nature of those in power to gain more power, and if the tomato companies start to falter because too many people are growing their own, you can bet they would draft that legislation. It's all about money and power. Marijuana is not the scourge of the nation that they make it out to be, but alas I preach to the choir (why can't I speel that word today?) If I were a medical user, I'd probably want to grow for my medical user friends who couldn't grow for themselves. These are the things that will never make it into the printed pages of most papers. That may not be the case in all instances, but it is worth considering. BTW, Love that signature Mr Applseed... ![]()

| We need to have it legalized people, I thought America meant "freedom"... alcohol is worse than weed. I can drive perfectly fine when I'm high, perhaps even better driving high then when I'm not stoned. Ever tried to drive when you've been drinking?, let alone be able to sit on a chair without falling off? Didn't think so. Anways... this isn't right, we need a movement towards pot legalization. Because either way... I'm growing this summer, if it's legal or not. But yea... I love weed, and no I'm not high right now. Peace | |
