Default School administrator faces charges

Assistant principal 'frames' kid with marijuana in locker
Miami.com | Posted on Sat, Feb. 21, 2004

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. - (AP) -- An assistant principal who was trying to get a student expelled admitted planting marijuana in the boy's locker, police said.

Police say Pat Conroy told them this month that he placed the marijuana in the locker at South Haven High School last year because he suspected the boy was a drug dealer and wanted him expelled.

The plan failed because a police drug dog didn't find the contraband during a school search last year.

Conroy, who has been placed on administrative leave, said he ''lost his perspective'' and had done something ''stupid, arrogant and unethical,'' according to a police report. He told police that he planted evidence only once, according to the report. It was unclear how the plan came to light.

A message seeking comment was left Friday night at a home listing for Conroy.

Police searched Conroy's office Feb. 9 and found a drawer filled with packets of suspected marijuana and assorted pills, the police report said.

Conroy told police he had been collecting the drugs confiscated from students to use at student expulsion hearings as evidence.

School Board President Ed Bocock said he never saw drugs displayed at any student expulsion hearing he attended.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case to see whether Conroy could be charged with possession of marijuana.

[zombienote: This incident is already global news. I have seen the headlines from the UK, Australia, and South Africa.]

Default Administrator Quits

Today's news reported that Conroy quit.
He expressed remorse over what he had done. But one wonders how he would feel if the dog had found the planted marijuana.

This also creates precedence for any kid in school caught with drugs to claim s/he was framed.

Default Hey man, I wuz framed...

This is the kind of thing that bring about disrespect of authority while having a very questionable effect on the amount of drugs brought into schools. While some might find the apology offered sincere, the fact that he said he "only" planted drugs once brings that into question.
On an unrelated topic, is 1000 Nixons a new wavw band? Kind of like 10000 Maniacs???

Hey,,,, good point!

I am finishing writing a song about that hateful Ann coulter, and "Doc Zombie and a Thousand Nixons" would be a great band name.

This situation happens more than we know. Schools are usually pretty good about squelching "unsavoryness", based on how many things came to my attention while working with children.

Classic Reefer Madness. Mr. Principal thinks his mission to save the children allows him to violate the law and perpatrate a very vile act.

I hope they hammer him and send a message to other princals who do this very same thing. I have guessed that they would keep weed in their desks or "handy" to frame kids - particularly black kids. It's the Principals word against that of an "accused drug dealer".

And of course, don't forget Goose Creek.

Stay tuned to this one....

I hope they fry that sorry sucker!! Behavior like that goes WAY beyond the boundaries of unethical and belongs in the criminal arena. Apology should not be accepted and they should bring federal charges against him which should be worse since it was within school property. When I read stuff like this I get downright !!!!!

On a related note last month here is Leavenworth Kansas an assistant principal resigned because she was caught with marijuana in her posession after a traffic stop.

Default Cover Up Begins: Police Knew contraband kept by School?

Police respond to South Haven High School drug investigation
WOOD TV 8 | February 20, 2004, 5:52 p.m.

By Dan Bewley

South Haven High School Principal Dene Hadden told 24 Hour News 8 on Friday the police department knew Assistant Principal Pat Conroy kept marijuana in his desk drawer.

Conroy pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance Friday and also turned in his resignation.

Conroy admitted to police he planted marijuana in a student's locker in hopes of expelling that student who Conroy thought was a drug dealer.

Police later found drug paraphernalia and marijuana in three drawers in Conroy's office. Principal Hadden said the contraband was seized from students and police knew it was there.

"I see absolutely no substance to those allegations that any member of the South Haven Police Department left illegal, controlled substance with anyone for any reason, with any member of the school board or school system," said Deputy Police Chief Tom Martin.

Deputy Chief Martin says he is investigating to see if a South Haven Police officer knew about the marijuana in Conroy's desk.

24 Hour News 8 tried to contact Pat Conroy Saturday, but our calls were not returned.

[zombienote: What a f*ckin' loser. He belongs in jail. Or with the Rove administration.... I did not have marijauna with that boy....

And the local Police (po-leece) are both covering for them AND denying it?
