| DAVID CROSBY BUSTED IN NYC Google Search | Sat Mar 6 2004 By Mama Budz Two-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, musician David Crosby, 62, was arrested on the charge of possessing marijuana and a handgun, in NYC. Police said Crosby had already checked out of a Times Square hotel on Saturday morning when he returned to retrieve a piece of luggage he had accidentally left behind. At some point an employee of the unnamed hotel rummaged through the bag and found both the pot and a .45-caliber handgun. It is then believed that a call was made to the police who met Mr. Crosby as he returned to retrieve his missing luggage. David Crosby, a legendary rock and roll musician, was in New York for performances at the famous B.B. King Blues Club off Times Square and at the Shea Auditorium in nearby Wayne, N.J. A previous felony drug conviction, unjustly brought against Mr. Crosby in 1985, was later overturned but only after he had spent a year of his life behind bars. Mr. Crosby is an organ recipient. Having survived the replacement of his (kidneys) liver some years ago, he does not drink alcohol and must take a number of anti-rejection medications every day to survive. Please note correction in italics above. Mr. Crosby had a liver replacement in November of 1994. My apologies for this error. Mama Budz | |

| Ouch. He's boned. Having a gun and weed at the same time is not a good idea. No way he'll get off either, as private citizens like the hotel employee can invade others privacy all they want.

| My dad was in New York about 20 years ago and he saw a guy sell a bag of pot to someone right out in public and there was a cop nearby in uniform that also saw this happen and didn't bother doing anything. I guess some cops realize theres more important things to worry about than a little grass but then again this guy that was arrested had a complaint against him where they had to act. One thing is they could have at least let him off with a warning or a ticket though. When people are busted for contraband and happen to have a gun they always gotta make a big thing out of it. ![]() |

| Some quick updates...and some observations: The marijuana charge turned out to be a misdemeanor with a fine in NYC since it was less than an ounce. David Crosby has been carrying a handgun since John Lennon was murdered in 1980. When he was arrested and wrongfully accused in 1984, he testified in court to that fact. David also carried a folding pocket knife and a longer hunting knife. Most guitarists carry at least one knife to cut strings, pry guitar pegs and pare and clean their nails for performance. It makes sense that he had the knives and the gun in the same location for travel. David is taking many medications to fend off rejection of his donor kidney. Rejection drugs do cause naseau, and marijuana is a safe anit-emetic. NY State, where this incident occurred, is introducing Medical Marijuana. David bonded out of jail for only $3,500 with is attorney 12 hours after being arrested. So basically he was busted having medical marijuana and a protection device in NYC (under the Second Amendment). ...have a cookie ![]() Mama Budz | |

| David Crosby was busted for his gun. Does he have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in NYC? I suspect he does not. As regretable as it is that John Lennon was murdered, how does Crosby believe a hand gun, carried in his suitcase would be of any help if some nut with a gun walked up to him and shot. Even if it was on his person, under these conditions it would still be of no use. On another level I am dissapointed that Crosby would be carrying a firearm. After what he sang about concerning the violence of Kent State and the war in Vietnam, he seems like a hypocrite to me... ![]() |

Crosby's gun was packed in a suitcase because all of his luggage was packed and he believed in his possession. Crosby had his gun on him probably because he felt safer walking home through Times Square after his gigs. Ever been in Times Square after midnight? Ever been in NYC? Ever have a nut with a gun come up to you? A mugger? It helps to be able to defend yourself if you know how to use a firearm. Quote:
Kent State is about Children demonstrating against the war in Southeast Asia who were killed by other Children in the National Guard on Nixon's orders at a Midwestern Univeristy. Learn your late 20th century history, then you may be prepared to come back and argue your case with someone who lived through it. Mama Budz | |||

| Hmmmm. The guy was only expressing his opinion, ive lived through it and go to NYC regularly, and never found it neccesary to pack a weapon,if you stay where its safe.In my opinion LEO's should only carry firearms because thier trained to use them. Im sure Crosby has enough $$$ to hire a body guard if he was that paranoid about getting aprouched by said "nut" I don't like the idea of a stoned paranoid performer carrying such a large caliber weapon. Now be nice its just an opinion on a message board. | |

| Let me get this straight; Nixon ORDERED Ohio national guardsmen to SHOOT anti-war demonstrators at Kent State University. There was a lot of confusion that spring day in 1970 but to blame it on Nixon is a bit much. Perhaps tragic would have been a better choice of words concerning the death of John Lennon but do not presume that I do not know who thw man was. As a member of the Beatles, the gresatest rock/pop band off all time he was great. As a solo artist, well...thats another matter. Have you ever listened to "Two Virgins" let's just say it was weak. As for Crosby, you did not answer the question , does he have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Whatever...What was he doing leaving the case with the gun where anyone, criminal, CHILD, or cop could find it. If he wants to carry a GUN, he MUST be more responsible. Since YOU are the expert, tell me how my memory of Lennon is WRONG. He left the Dakota for the evening. David Chapman arrivehd there and waited for Lennon to arrive and, emerging from a croud, without warning, shot him. Do you REALLY thing if Lennon were armed at the time, things would have turned out differently? What about Harrison? He turned his home into a fortress and still could not keep an idiot from getting in. If Crosby does not feel safe in NYC, maybe he should AVOID the place. "Tin solders and Nixon coming. We're finnaly on our own. This summer I hear the calling. Four dead in Ohio." killed by GUNS peace |
