On the whole idea of fewer children being brought into the world... Naw, nevermind, that point is so plainly obvious I don't need to go there. When Jack Herrer said hemp can save the world, I wonder if he took this into consideration? Population control is out of control... So if this is true, my opinion is that it is good news, now lets legalize this already... I wonder if they would ever do a study regarding welfare increasing fertility? Logos

| In my time of smoking pot i have friends that have gotten pregnant and others that havn't(we are all heavy smokers) in my opinion they need to come up with more evedence to support there theory. Most pot smokers here were i live have mostly male children a girl here or there but mostly boys. i think that study was just a bunch of B.S. trying to scare mature adults that would like to have kids one day out of smoking pot.

| i don't think that is true. isn't thc stored in your liver, and then gone in a month? i don't think that would have any effect on fertility. |

| It's very, very hard to tell in today's modern "civilized" society. I mean, everything can be conisered a risk, can it not? And then when you start going into statistics...boy don't get me started on statistics. You know they say like one out of every one hundred cannabis users will be infertile...or something foolish like that. Well, when you present it the other way around, it doesn't sound nearly as bad. 99/100 cannabis users WILL NOT be infertile. And like they said, the effects taper off. I mean, when women are on the pill, it doesn't mean they can't ever have a child again. And what is with all these numbers, and figures, and demographics, anyway? They don't mean a thing. Who came up with them? The chances of dying in a car crash that isn't your fault is pretty good too, but that don't stop people from driving. The chances of contracting influenza from ANYWHERE is really good, but that doesn't make people wear face masks everywhere. Everyone knows that catching HIV is too terribly easy for comfort, but that hasn't stopped people. I mean, you have to pick your battles, you can't win them all. If you're gonna smoke pot, smoke pot. Chances be d*mned, they mean nothing.

| I have a few kids and I have smoked off and on since I was 13. You know what? If you urinate in your pants you may get a wet feeling or sensation ~chuckles~. Our world won't even be around as we know it in 8yrs and there is no one who can stop it! Our great cities and civilization are but a mere myth in time ~grins~. But like my ole buddy G said, "Going to hell in a bucket, at least i'm enjoyin the ride." |

| After smoking marijuana for 6 months, I couldn't get it up anymore. If you too have this much too common problem, try crushing your weed up into powder and cooking it with baking soda and crushed up viagra pills. It's the new drug on the streets and it's called crack marijuana. It is highly addictive because it is 99% THC but you won't have the fertility problem. |

| As for the ads, i've never actually seen them myself, but basing this on your observations that they are targetted against young females, I must say that's a wee bit too gendered for me to be content with. Usage of drugs has always been higher in males than that of females. These are the stats I was given in one of my sociology lectures (though the point they were making was about Use in Australia VS Use in the US) I can't remember waht year they were from though. I think abt 2000. In AUS 37.1% of females used illicit drugs while 38.3% of males did in the 14-19yr old category. (the US was F 24.0% and M 28.0%) 33.5%were female and 47.1% was male for the 20-29y.o (US F 14.5% and 24.9% for males) (we've got a greater concentration of "criminals" in Australia!) The ones that keep the drug use lifelong are Males at 3.1% and females at 1.3%. What's with these ads being targetted at girls!? As the research above claims, its meant to be doing damge to boys hey? Yet girls using marijuana is just not as acceptable? I guess the only reasoning could be that possibly more girls watch television, and/or that they are more affected by advertising campaigns...? Well, that's just my ponderings... The biggest catalyst to teenage pregnancy is surely alcohol above all anyway. Oh, and as for the thing about the getting hooked on heroine 6 months after using pot, The average age for starting to smoke pot in australia is 18.9years. The average age for starting Heroine is 20.1 years. |

| Anyone, including the government of any country, can come up with some test which concludes marijuana is dangerous. Just like any court can come up with expert witnesses on both sides of the equation that conslusively proves their clients guilt or innocence. Unfortunately, in each case the experts sometimes neglect to include all the facts so as to make their case more believable to the uneducated masses. We call them spin doctors. In this case just think about it for a moment. And think hard. Do you actually know ANYONE who is infertile and can't have children. If the answer is yes, and they smoke marijuana, could that be the only possible cause for the infertility. If you go to any infertility website they list a plethora of reasons why men could become infertile......including living in close proximity to overhead power lines. Guess what people, 90% of the population lives near an overhead powerline. The question then is, why aren't 90% of men sterile due to this and why aren't we tearing down power lines? We don't do this because common sense tells us, along with the thousands and thousands and thousands of children born every day, that even though it COULD cause infertility, the chances of it occuring are less than 1 in 100 million. I have personally smoked weed for over 30 years and I can honestly say that well over 75% of my aquaintances also smoke and not a single one of them doesn't have children. So what can we assume from this scientific article? Well, it states that it lowers fertility in men and could cause some men to become sterile. Well, if the chances are 1 in 100 million or more, I for one am willing to take that chance. And thanks for wasting more of my tax dollars on some bullsh*t theory that any one of us could have come up with for a bong hit and cd of our choice. |
