Talking Pass that Dutchie; Ocean's Twelve in Amsterdan Coffeeshop

Pass that Dutchie; Ocean's Twelve in Amsterdam Coffeeshop RTL Boulevard (NL) ~ 4.17.2004 ~ translated by solutions

Amsterdam will soon be the location for Ocean's Twelve shootings. AT5 uncovered Brad and George can most likely be found in a Coffeeshop.

Recordings
Warner Brothers has been ultra secrative about filmshoots that will bring Brad Pitt and George Clooney to the Netherlands for Ocean's Twelve, the sequel to box office hit Ocean's Eleven. In a few weeks shootings will start in Amsterdam and bring Hollywood stars like Brad, George and Catherine Zeta Jones to Amsterdam for on location recordings {solutions note: the original report said Julia Roberts, hehehe}. The script and locations had been carefully kept secret but have now been leaked.

Coffeeshop
After some research, Amsterdam TV-station AT5 uncoverd one location: the Heiligeweg in Amsterdam's city center. Local businesses are pretty exited but are not supposed to tell anything. A key scene in Ocean's Twelve will be recorded in Coffeeshop 'De Dampkring'. And the lead characters are no strangers there!

{solutions~note: De Dampkring, not bad, not a bad choice at all}

Incognito
Paul Wilhelm, owner of the coffeeshop tells AT5: "I can only confirm there will be a movie recorded here, but I can not say when. We have Bradd Pitt in our store a few times a year, all incognito with a beenie and glasses. Just sitting there smoking some. We've had George Clooney in too sometime. They are just nice people."

{solutions_note: citizen of the world Bradd Pitt is said to have previously lived in Amsterdam for a few months in 1991 and to have a place in Amsterdam's Jordaan area in his multinational real estate portfolio. Other celebrities like Madonna and David Bowie have found themselves their pied-à-terre in Mokum City, ranked the world's 10th most livable city according to Mercer's.}

solutions, I really don't find this fair. You have decriminalized weed, drive-thru coffee shops and now George and Brad?! I think you should go down to that coffee shop for me when they start filming and let George and Brad know that we have better weed here in Canada. According to John Walters it is 'crack' marijuana and has 40% TCH! Damn, I'd love to smoke some weed with George and Brad. I'd probably LMAO. Will you continue to brag about this, I mean update us on this solutions?

Sure I'll brag some more, I mean update on this story

Ocean's Twelve started filming in Amsterdam last week, turning the city upside down and getting a lot of attention from the local media. I haven't spotted any of the cast myself, only VIP-spotters running around... hoping to catch a glimpse. They are said to shoot in De Dampkring may 29th.

The Amsterdam mission is to steal the 'Vanderspeigle Getuigschrift', the first stock certificate issued by the first corporation on the planet: the Dutch East India Trading Company.

Some pic's, click here for more:

Britney Spears spotted in Amsterdam coffeeshop;

As if Ocean's Twelve doesn't bring enough Hollywood to Amsterdam, RTL Boulevard reports that paparazzo Dennis van Tellingen shot the first ever picture of Britney Spears with her new boyfriend Kevin Federline in Amsterdam (see pic below). They were spotted having a smoke with friends in coffeeshop "De Bulldog" at the Leidseplein (a genuine tourist trap).

Here's another pic of De Dampkring:

BTW: In the first post I mentioned a rumour about Brad Pitt owning a house in Amsterdam. In an interview with Amsterdam TV station AT5 he denied this, and given that he stays in a hotel the rumour is unlikely to be true

They're making a SEQUEL to that movie? Yuck, I'll pass. Ocean's Eleven was decent (pales in comparison to the original, I hear), but a SEQUEL? Sounds like recycled Hollywood garbage.

...although the fact that Julia Roberts isn't in this movie does make it a bit more appealing. Eh, it's nothing against her, but I'm a little sick of seeing her.

I am sick of seeing her [Julia Robers] too, she smiles too big and she is annoying.................but I digress

Hmmmm, celebrities visiting Amsterdam to smoke weed.........does this give us any clue about how stupid we are for still making weed illegal in the states?

Maybe some of these celebs should use their showbiz influence to express the stupid laws in the states. Just my 2 cents.

I don't know, I haven't seen parts 1 to 11 myself yet. I'm definately going to see 12 though. Even if it turns out to be garbage, how many Hollywood movies use a genuine Amsterdam potsmoking coffeeshop as a location? That's good enough for me to take a chance

I was hesitating to even report on these celebrities being spotted in Amsterdam coffeeshops. It's news IMO, but on the other hand I feel they too deserve their privacy and I certainly don't want them to get in trouble in the USA. So for the record, I didn't say they were smoking weed, just that they were REPORTEDLY spotted smoking SOMETHING in an Amsterdam establishment (which may or may not have been pot )

But yeah, I agree that if these celebs do smoke pot it would be great if they came out of the closet and use their influence to change these archaic silly laws against cannabis. So that's 4 cents allready.

Update: I passed the Dampkring last week just when they were filming there. I couldn't see actual actors, just bright lights, a lot of security and a few rows of screeming teens. The cast has left Amsterdam for Monaco (what a job).

I found some more juicy news:

Ocean's Twelve get high on dope!
London | May 23, 2004 2:54:14 PM IST | WebIndia123

Life has become one hell of a party for Ocean's Twelve crew so much so that the film's production costs have gone up.

According to Star, the stars have been partying in Amsterdam on the Ocean's Twelve set, which stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

"Warner Bros. got word that the partying got out of hand and was causing production delays," an insider was quoted as saying. He also said that Warner Bros. Gave memo dated May 8, which addresses the film company's concern about drug use in Amsterdam, where pot is legal.

The memo reads: "Though the laws regarding the use of alcohol and recreational drugs vary from country to country, we remind you that the policies of Ocean's Twelve, LLC, Warner Bros. Productions, Ltd., and Warner Bros., Entertainment Italia strictly prohibit the use of these substances during work hours." (ANI)

Ya, right. What is Warner bros. going to do, follow them everywhere to ensure they aren't using these substances? They probably read those memos and make paper airplanes out of them.

Thanks for the updates solutions. I especially enjoyed the link for the pics in one of your posts. The buildings in Amsterdam look beautiful. Someday...I would love to go there. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie someday too.

I heard a snippet about this on the radio this morning right after they mentioned that it is Tommy Chongs 66th birthday, and that he is spending it in prison.

They stated that the filming company has sent a memo saying that there are company rules against being under the influence while working.

Everyone had a good laugh. I got the impression the staff at the station was stoned at work...
