Actually, if you have ever heard of or read about the CARF book scandal in the late 80's and early 90's this makes taxation without representation even more conspicuous.

In 1989 a scandal that rocked the USA for about a day and then was shoved under the proverbial rug and has been a hush hush supposeably under investigation since then. It was found out that the government keeps two sets of book all the way down to the smallest government level. The first set is the one they tell us about. The one they tax us with. The second set of books (kept secret) are the investment returns that these government entities accrue through said investments. It was recently caculated that if every American got paid back for all the false taxes they have been raping us for to date, we would each receive between $150 - 175,000 each. I sure could use that money right about now too. ~grins~

I could go into a huge rant on tax abuse by the federal government. Just saw something on the news the other night in fact regarding something to the tune of 80 billion wasted on stoopid stuff. the guy that was talking about it said something to the effect that that number didn't even take into consideration the defense budget which is at the top of the waste list. I can attest to that having been in the military, and seeing the waste first hand. There really is no incentive at the lowest level to be thrifty. (worked in a supply room for a time)

Then there is an 11 billion dollar tax drain from the war on drugs, and I hate to speculate just how much this war for oil is draining the taxes we pay creating a burden our children and grand children will have to bear...

We are in heaps of trouble in this country and litterally have no idea of the scope of that trouble.

That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it...

I now return you to your regularly scheduled topic...

Plains, thanks for those numbers. I have always wondered. As far as growing, I can't risk it as long as property siezure laws exist. You have to prove yourself innocent to charges of distribution or they take your property, sometimes they take it before you are even convicted, and if you aren't convicted, you still might pay hell getting it back.

If I can find some research on a particular condition I suffer from, and can acquire a medical authorization, I'll definatly be visiting your side of the fence..

As it stands, I can't afford to risk it.
