Its completely ignorant and just plain retarded to say you don't see Iowa (or any other state for that matter) legalizing for medical purposes in the near future.

Well, hmmm.... for whatever your reasons are, you have decided I don't support you, that is incorrect. I hope that all of the MIdWestern State's pass some form of Medical Marijuana Law, and the sooner, the better.
I do believe that we need to pay attention to how that is accomplished. You folks have made progress, if I remember correctly one of the mucky-mucks originally said they don't have to listen to what the public wants, seems like this meeting refutes that. The problem is with the proposal not the idea. If you get an unworkable law, folks will just ignore it, and continue what they are doing now. That leaves a lot of patients having to rely on the black market or remain in pain.
The Law that was passed in Michigan has held up in court, it is the prosecutors that are filing appeals. I have talked about passing Marijuana laws by using the ballot initiative. Yesterday I attended a seminar at Wayne State University, where the Dean of the College explained that Marijuana will not be legalized for decades, the politicians are not going to endorse it,
