War on Drugs Neglected
The Ledger | Published Monday, May 17, 2004

We hear none and read very little of what the Bush administration is doing or has done to protect our citizens from the ravages of the illegal drug trade that has taken control of the streets of America. Mr. Bush has been so focused on destroying his enemies on foreign soil that he has neglected to protect our nation's people from the drug dealers and pill peddlers who continue to openly do business as usual.

MIKE LOMBARDI

Logosnote: Last I checked...

Every time they raise the terror alert a Co-Op in California is busted. Not to worry Mike, the WOD is still a top priority for the president who stated before being elected that medical marijuana was a state issue, and that he would leave it to the states.

At least they are doing their best to keep it out of the hands of those who can legally use it...

Nice job with that Mr President...

I'm not sure I understand the complaint. It seems to me Bush is doing about the same in both areas. Al Quaeda hit our country so Bush ran our army off into Iraq. Hard drugs are causing problems in urban areas so he has medical marijuana facilities busted. Attacking something that is not the problem is his modus operandi.

Hey Mike . . . Bush can't protect you from anything. All he can do is hand you a list of excuses as to why he's ineffective at everything he and his administration tackles. Go buy a gun while you still have second amendment rights and protect yourself. Welcome to America.

Uhm... protect him from what? Two stoners on the street corner? OH MY GOD!! MIKE CALL BACKUP!!

Come on!, I'm sure Mike here has never experienced with any drugs, and if he has, I would like to now what he tried, with whom, where and in what situation. This are all important factors to how you "percieve" a threat.

BTW Mike: Uhm... I don't know if you're a concerned citizen or some writter for some paper, but a 12 year old could write something better (*turns around and looks at sister* "hey Sis! come here and take a look at this!")

Peace.

EDIT: I would like to add this:

Just because you don't "hear" about thing doesn't mean they don't happen. There are a lot of human rights violations occuring in prisons, in MJ growers' homes, in many countries of the world and you don't "hear" much about that. Take this into consideration.

Good one Loretta! Obviously Mike doesn't know that the WOD is a big failure and has been from the start. Mike needs to get his head out of the sand and take a look around. If he thinks King George is going to save him from big bad drug dealers, he's going to be sadly mistaken. Mike should be glad he doesn't need marijuana for medicinal purposes. He'd find out the hard way what the WOD is really all about.

By pill pushers are you refering to our pharmaceutical corporations? For the first time in history behavior modifying drugs(i.e. Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Ritalin, etc.) are being prescribed more than asthma medication(the former #1 prescription drug) to children from the ages of 4-18. Tell me one thing Mike. If the children are 'legally medicated' at such a young age what do you suppose they do when they get older and can no longer recieve the behavior modifying drugs?

Perhaps the gateway drugs don't exist (or if they do maybe it starts here) and it's truly a psychological/behavioral issue to begin with. By that I mean that the children are using 'street' drugs as a form of escapism to replace the deficiencies in their lives. Also look at the way the public treats alcohol and tobacco(2 of THE most dangerous drugs know to man). They are both available over the counter and cause far more harm than marijuana. Kids just say no to drugs but if you have to do a drug smoke a cigarette or have a drink. It's okay to go out on Friday and Saturday night and get totally drunk, get behind the wheel and kill someone but it is 'illegal' to sit in the safety of your own home and take a couple puffs off of a 'joint'.

The government is creating this conundrum. They tell our children to just say no, but what they really mean is just say no to unregulated drugs. These behavior drugs cause far more damage in the long run than anyone is willing to admit. Some parents lack the skills to raise their own children so they rely on these modifying drugs. If these people are noticing problems with their children perhaps they should spend a little more time with them as opposed to having so many irons in the fire. HMMMM????? Not bashing good parents or struggling parents so please don't stone me unless it's with some really good hash balls Abuse and addiction should be the focus of ANY war on drugs but that is not the case Mike.

Our great government is more concerned with the money making end of it than anyone suspects. Read the news here. Britan and GW Pharm. are test marketing Sativex in Canada. Helll-o. Do you think America's realationship with England starts and ends with the war in Iraq? Gdub is a snake of a different color isn't he? It will only remain illegal until they can market it to you at a reasonable cost for something that COULD cost you nothing. But there again is this great capitalist machine at work. Makes me want to hurl

With all the lives the WoD has taken and ruined...all the people in prisons...With all the tax dollars spent...With all the liberties it's deteriorated...all the lies it has spread...for decades...and here is a man who says...

...has neglected to protect our nation's people from the drug dealers and pill peddlers who continue to openly do business as usual.

Doesn't seem like it's working to well after all huh Mike.Don't worry though, you and millions like you are still paying billions of dollars for the WoD.It is still very much alive and well.

But maybe Mike, just maybe ,the war never did work to protect anyone except those that dream themselves your master.

Wonderful posts everyone. Amen to all of you.

Hey Mike, Bush may be focused on destroying our terrorist enemies on foreign soil, but he's just as focused on using his own brand of terrorism to destroy the lives of our own people here on American soil.

Post bush smokes

i think that the reason the bush administration has stopped a bit is because bush probably smokes weed. that would be pretty if the president got high. have you ever seen the movie Dick? in that movie richard nixon gets high. it's funny.
