Why is it you hate me so?

Why is it I am so hated? I was born of the wisdom of all nature and not placed here by man.
I am here for man but not man alone.
I have eased the pain of countless people throughout the history of the world.
I have heard the sighs of relaxation when tired and spastic muscles relax with my help.I have been a kind friend to millions who suffer and have suffered from so many different forms of sickness and disease through out the ages.
I have seen the smiles on faces spread when all else seems to be clouded in desperation.
I have given real hope to many who thought there was none at all.
I do not ask for a thanks because that is my job among other things.
I do not understand why I am so persecuted by man.
Mankind and me are related closer than one may think.
Nature designed me to help,I am all about life.Man was even designed to recieve my help.
I was made to ease pain and speak to the mind of things like hope and peace, to help expand the consciousness and unlock the sub-consciousness of man.
So many people find me spiritual and are persecuted for their belief.I can lay waste to the violence in people most of the time and yet at one point in history men lied on me and told others that I bred homicidal psychopaths.
Why is it you hate me so?
I see wars waged against me.I watch as those who would use me as the almighty intended are punished by those who hate me.It seems they always use the excuse of protecting society from me.Protecting society from those that know the truth about me.
What noble souls they must think themselves to be.
I have learned in my time that the nature of mankind can be to hurt one another.
To kill one another,to slit the throats of infants,to behead those they percieve to be their enemies,to torture one another,belittle,defile,degrade,control,enslave and they seem to learn little from their failures.
I do not have in me that same power of destruction or hate.
I know I could help if they only gave me a chance.
Like a drowning man fighting off his rescuers they fight me instead of embracing my many reasons for being.
I am here to help and not to hurt.Those that know me understand this even if they can not explain it.I weep to know they bleed from knowing the truth.
Why is it you hate me so? Is it because I help to inspire freedom or independent thought?
Is it possible I may hold a key to a deeper meaning of life? Or is it simply that you fear what you cannot understand?
You can rip up my roots and burn me in piles.
You can make laws to punish those that may know the truth about me and need me.
You can rip their families apart and destroy their lives.
You can rob them of a chance at a living and poison the minds of their children.
But you will never own them
Nor will you ever own me
I am cannabis.

The biggest problem I have is, the people of the United States of America have forgotten that WE are the government and the people in Washington DC are the ADMINISTRATION. Does “by the people for the people” ring any bells?

What everyone else already said above! Told you it was front page worthy! I love this idea. Someone needed to speak up for marijuana itself. Marijuana's voice should be heard too. Marijuana should complain about being used as a scapegoat all the time. Marijuana takes the blame for other problems all the time, but does marijuana ever complain, no it's a peace loving plant, so it would never do that. We need to speak up for marijuana. Awesome job, Kannibal!

One thing I have to expound on with Suetaz's remerk is that if I could hear all of the plants in closets all over the world, I'm sure they are saying, "Let the sunshine in" Which just so happens to be stuck in my head from a song I heard a few minutes ago... Anyone guess which song it is?

Seemed an appropriate sentiment to put right there, and in fact, could be all of the plants in the world caged in closets that keep it rolling through my head right now...
