That's so incredibly stupid. It's just another attempt to get people not to use drugs, that wont work.

You would be breaking the law. The law being made says you can't have drugs in your system in the area you are.
Actually, the law in question says you can't have drugs in your system while driving in the area you are.

But the intent of the law is that you can't be impaired while driving. And you wouldn't be. You broke no law (the spirit of the law). I suppose you did break the letter of the law. But that just goes to show how poorly designed this law is, if they are going to be arresting people that didn't break the intent of the law but only the letter of it.

"Hey, guess what, I'm in prison for "drug driving" but I didn't even know! A person I had just met crushed a couple of X pills in my dinner and I got high as hell! Then, after it was over, I drove to my house, but unfortunately I got pulled over by a police man because I didn't notice a stop sign. He made me get out of the car (because I had an awful looking face, off course! I'd been drugged!) and performed a drug test on me. I could drive perfectly, the effects of the drug had passed, but because I had it in my bloodstream, I was sentenced for drug consumption and drug driving. Now I'm in this rat-hole and won't get out until the end of the year... Days wasted by the government"

What do you think of this? This could happen, and probably will happen if that law is enforced, so more and more people will be put to jail because THEY DID NOTHING WRONG. That, my friends, is the justice we are seeing today.

Haha, no man, I was just trying to make an example You could get drugged and then fall victim to the law, that's what I was trying to say. In other words, this law is useless.

I can see it now...you know those little handheld devices that people with diabetes use to poke a small hole and draw blood? Soon they'll have these everywhere, you won't be able to buy groceries unless you get your blood drawn Yeah, I got an imagination? So what, arrest me!

They probably will arrest you for that.....

That law makes no sense because they werent "drugged" while driving. Nor does the law making drugs illegal but what can you do about it. It's really sad to hear that stuff like this actually does go on.

I am in total agreement with everyone who thinks this is so absurd. There has to be a way to test present impairment instead of testing for something you might have done days, weeks, or even months ago. I know that for myself I can be dirty after smoking for up to six weeks, does that mean I should stay off the road for that long simply because there may be traces of THC metabolites in my system? If everyone went on that premise, we would not be able to drive anywhere, anytime. That is just awful, another way to supress our freedom which we are supposed to have in this country.

Oh well.

I have a theory that it really isn't about getting "drugged drivers" off of the road, per say; it's weeding out all of the illegal drug users systematically. Their other methods don't seem to work very well. I mean, by their own admission, over 10 million people in the US smoke marijuana in any given year, and most of these people will never be discovered or arrested without some sort of mass drug testing. They pass this law off as a way to "protect" other drivers by getting the "dangerous, intoxicated" drivers off of the road and throwing them in jail. And of course, it's extremely unconstitutional, but the majority of the non-drug using public thinks it's great because they assume that it's to "protect" them. Those folks can't see the forest for the trees.

If this actually becomes a law, i bet the same scientist that make fake pee and such are going to come up with all new ways to get past this stuff. Eventually, we will have to be dissected after getting pulled over to see if were were drugged and a danger to the road.

If they did find all the evil drug users, more than half of the US is going to be in prison, and i just don't think we would all go in without a pretty big fight. Dare i say the second civil war. I'll sign up if a pig wants to put me in jail for having weed in my system.

PS
No freaking grocery store cashier is gonna poke me!
