| Many thanx for all the kind comments! As far as other trips, I have to recuperate from this one, at least financially. Twas cheap to be there, but the ticket was a lot, at least for a simple person like myself. I still have a whopping income tax bill to pay, to support the Bush Empire. (I wasn't wealthy enough to benefit from the "tax cuts") I am expecting Vansterdam to be a much less taxing trip, as well as Jamaica. Viet Nam is just so far away it's hard to imagine. The flight from LA to Seoul was 12 hours + crossing the dateline. On the way back we had tailwinds of 150 mph and we were over the pacific in 10 hours. But the jet lag didnt even begin until the day after I landed. POW! I have tentative plans to visit Logos in Wachingto, to get on up to Vancouver, and sometime in 2005 to do Jamaica, if finances hold up - and the country isn't locked-down. Among the other big trips I have contemplated: a return to Viet Nam, to the Mekong Region, and I want to see the Great Wall of China. So... I gotta keep working. I attached a scaled-down pic of something that looks very good in full-resolution - makes me think of Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here". I call it "Sea of Tranquilty". I was stoned and looking at it happily the other night.

| I loved your story. I also loved Vietnam. I spent four weeks there in 1998. The place was cheap. The food was great. People interesting and responsive. Since I'm from the States the recent history was especially poignant. However, I smoked weed all the time in Vietnam. I don't remember how I scored, but it was often and easy. I think dealers can sniff me out. Which is funny since I look and act like a complete square. I was paranoid about travelling with too much weed on me. I wouldn't want to get caught with the wrong amount by the wrong people-even though most cops have a price in places like Vietnam. |

I sort of wish I could have bought that bong.... it's so cool. When I go back, which will likely be 2006, I plan to go to the Mekong Region and spend more time - 10 days was ridiculously brief. And I will want to make arrangement to SOMEHOW smoke the herb. I see no reaso I should be deprived of this simple ritual. thanks for joining! | |

| Even in Mexico the Taxi drivers are like that. Some were nice but others seemed to force buisness from you and at the same time rip you off. Despite that, I think it's really cool how friendly most of the people were. This is a great example of how economic wealth of a country doesn't mean Jack. In France you have a fairly wealthy country but you also have thousands of people who wouldn't hesistate jumping you because of Bush. In Vietnam the economy isn't really the most abundant but the people get by and treat foreigners like decent human beings. Nice story though, I am interested in Buddha and Eastern religions as well, so I plan on visiting this region in my future, but if Mary Jane leads to a pre-mature death like the War On Drugs is trying to scare me into believing, I guess visiting these places is just a dream. ![]()
