| Man indicted for 2,000 lbs. of marijuana Sweetwater Reporter | By J. kyle Martin | June 19, 2004 A routine check on eighteen wheelers turned out to be one of the largest drug busts in Nolan County history. Local DPS troopers searched a suspicious tractor trailer and found one ton of marijuana. [Greenbudnote: Yep, you heard that right; One Ton of marijuana!!] Last weekend, local DPS Trooper Alan Armwine pulled over an eighteen-wheeler for a routine check on Interstate 20 in Nolan County. What the state trooper found through his roadside investigation of the vehicle was a large quantity of marijuana packaged in large bags. With the threat of such a large quantity of marijuana being distributed, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was contacted by DPS. The DEA in Lubbock took over the case and came up with approximately one ton (2,000 pounds) of marijuana. The case was then turned over to the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). DOJ Assistant U.S. Attorney Tanya Pierce, of Lubbock, said the suspect -- Lorenzo Acosta -- was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury and awaits transportation from Nolan County Jail to Lubbock, with a possible transportation to Taylor County Jail prior to sending the suspect on to Lubbock. "He was traveling from El Paso heading towards Tennessee," said Pierce. "The charges against Acosta are conspiracy to distribute under 100 kilos of marijuana found in his possession and one count of actual intent to distribute over 100 kilos of marijuana." Pierce said the federal charges would have been more severe if the amount didn't fall short of the law's penalties. The amount was nearer to 1,000 kilos of marijuana, but the law for longer prison time states it must be 'over 1,000' kilos said Pierce. Acosta will face a minimum of five years and the maximum of 40 years in the federal penitentiary without a the option of parole. Pierce also said in her 19 years as an assistant attorney for the DOJ she has prosecuted more cases in the areas along I-20 -- including Nolan County -- than in the area surrounding Lubbock. "I love my job," said Pierce. "You wouldn't believe what happens in just one weekend in the counties areas that have access to I-20." The street value of 2,000 pounds of marijuana is approximately $1 million.

| routine checks are legal for 18 wheelers anyway, what it is is basicly when a cop pulls you over and asks to see your inventory and stuff like that, he can also run you down to a wheight station and basicly hes looking to get you into **** lol (job of the police) |

| "I love my job," said Pierce. "You wouldn't believe what happens in just one weekend in the counties areas that have access to I-20." I wonder how she'll feel, after the fall of our 'Marijuana Wall', that she was doing the Gestapo work of our government's fraud upon the American people. For that matter, all the people who believes our government's lies. |

| It's true that marijuana prohibition poisons the minds of hundreds of millions of people across the socio-economical spectrum. Perhaps one day there will be a cure for this debilitating disease. |
