| As I stated before... If you dislike the taste of tobacco... then you probably aren't gonna like a joint with tobacco... I know some people from equador, and apparently everyone does it down there... Also apparently mixing with tobacco ensures that all the marijuana gets burned... or so i have heard... Personally I don't like it now... but i did like it back in the day when i was a smoker as well. |

| Well I think the only thing in common between tobacco and MJ is that they are both usually smoked; however, in my experience, in college is where I first found people to mix the MJ and tobacco together; most were from Europe and stated the reason they did this was to extend the MJ they had since it was so scarce where they were from; by mixing say a 50/50 mix into a joint they get twice as many joints from the same bag of MJ; but they never reallly mentioned anything about the tobacco except that it was like a filler for the joint; it was in effect to them an inert ingredient only used to conserve their marijuana; however, these kids also smoked cigarettes on a regular basis, so I don't think the tobacco content of the joint had any effect on them compared to the MJ contained in the joint. Also, they always lit and smoked a cigarette after smoking the joint. This never made sense to me; I believe it is probably because I never smoked cigarettes, but I would think that smoking the cigarette would ruin the high from the joint. But in the end, I think the only point that tobacco and MJ can have in common is that they are both usually smoked and in that sense provide a sense of oral fixation for the end user; but I could never imagine cannabis being a gateway to tobacco smoking; for me, I hate tobacco, never smoke it, but have tried it; I will, however smoke a joint of MJ, but never a joint mixed with tobacco; but then again that is a personal choice. This seems another tactic at trying to connect MJ with another evil that humans consume everyday.......when are they going to stop blaming MJ for all the other evils of the world????????????????? ![]() |

| Im pretty confident that the only people who would mix Marijuana with Nicotine are Nicotine addicts. They will give you a thousand reasons why their not nicotine addicts, but, they are. marijuana is a pure substance, unadulterated. Nicotine is a whore in retrospect. *Edited for content - even I fsckup from time to time - sorry. edit* I used to smoke for 17 years. I quit. And now I understand exactly how people will make any excuse for their addiction. Personally, It's my opinion that if you smoke nicotine - it's your own weakness. Many people have quit it and theres no reason you cant. If you choose to continue because you like it, well - welcome to ADDICTION. Funny how it isnt NEARLY the same as when ya run out of weed, huh? That's cause pot isn't addictive in the same manner as nicotine. I think more people should smoke, personally - I am a firm believer in Darwinism. Good luck, Addicts.

Still, it really has no redeeming qualities for the health and so I'd recommend to all reading this - If you aren't smoking it now, don't start. That said, it is not impossible to not be addicted. I'm not addicted to tobacco any more than weed. When I choose to abstain, I stop both. When I smoked the packaged stuff, I was somewhat addicted, but who knows what chemicals in the cig my body was addicted to bedides nicotine... I grew up in the southeast US where tobacco was grown. I remember walking through my grandfathers barn where the curing plants where hanging. Beautiful earthy smell. Gives me pause just to think about it now, and this was many years ago. He kept a stash of his own home grown in a can beside his recliner. He's put a little in his pipe and the room would smell sweet, not gag a maggot like commercial crap. He didn't walk around tending his farm with a cigarette hanging out his mouth, throwing butts everywhere. He only smoked a bowl in the evening after dinner. So tobacco has been raped for money and turned into a whore. So why do I smoke it? I could describe it this way. When I get high, I tend to want to drift off into la-la land. My head seems to want to float completely away from whatever I'm doing, even listening to music. (I know, I'm weird) Tobacco has been shown to increase mental activity so I guess the tobacco adds a little balast to my balloon. By the way I don't like the two mixed together because I tend to toke the weed directly down my lungs but tobacco I prefer to puff more lightly. But if I had not grown up in a tobacco culture, I might not smoke it at all because I believe health is my greatest wealth. But then again I might never have experienced the side of it that I have. If you smoke, treat it with respect, roll your own, and remember that nothing you smoke is gonna solve your problems. Be real about what effect it may be having on you and listen to your body. If it says stop then stop. Its difficult to quit but each day that goes by that you don't smoke you'll feel better as long as you're finding other ways to deal with life besides smoking... peace pilgrim | |

| also , from my travel experiences, Ive smoked w/ europeans, and they generally always roll tobacco w/ their weed IF they are going to indulge in weed, however, the reason they do this is coz they think that smokng hash and ganja together is wayyy too potent therefore roll tobacco w/ it, i mean doesnt great hash and ganja COME FROM EUROPE, therefore they have the option to indulge without running out, but , they still relent to roll it w/ ganja coz wed is too potent to smoke alone for them.! |

| Jesus Christ, whoever did this study, or the dumbass reporter who wrote the article, or both, need to learn the difference between correlation and causation. Junk science sucks.

| Personally, I have never smoked a joint mixed with tobacco. Never heard of this practice until I came to this site a few months ago. The closest I've come to this has been to put a few drops of hash oil on a cigarette on occasion, but I seldom ever do this. I do, however, like to smoke a few cigarettes after I smoke a bowl. It seems to enhance the high somewhat and helps prevent the munchies (at least for me). I don't smoke at any other time. As far as nicotine addiction goes...I don't smoke cigarettes if I don't have weed and I'm not high. If I don't smoke pot for weeks or even months, I won't touch a cigarette.
