| Fox Faces $1 Million Indecency Fine Tue Oct 12, 3:56 AM ET By Cynthia Littleton Source LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The Federal Communications Commission is said to be preparing to levy a fine of $1 million or more against Fox Broadcasting Co. and its affiliates for running afoul of indecency regulations in April 2003 with an episode of the reality show "Married by America," sources said. The impending action, first reported in Monday's edition of Television Week, is expected to be announced by the commission as early as this week. Fox officials declined comment, and FCC representatives could not be reached for comment Monday because of the Columbus Day holiday. But sources said the content in question involved lascivious banter among "Married" contestants and a segment that involved contestants licking whipped cream off each other's bodies. Television Week reported that the fine stemmed from a complaint lodged by watchdog group the Parents Television Council. The scrutiny of "Married" comes less than a month after the FCC formally issued its $550,000 fine against CBS for Janet Jackson breast-baring incident during the Super Bowl telecast in February.

| What is it with breasts on tv? A $550,000 fine for showing a nipple? Maybe it's a cultural difference showing through here but WTF? It's just a nipple! It's not like no one's seen one before! As to "lascivious banter" and "licking whipped cream off each other's bodies." well... What time was the show broadcast? |

| When the hell did the FCC go from being an organization about regulating frequency spectrums to an organization regulating the content on those spectrums? And now the FCC wants to regulate content on privately owned cable lines as well, what the hell is wrong with these people anyways? When the hell did the FCC become an organization to suppress free speech? Let them regulate the spectrum frequencies and stop having them regulate morality, it seems like a no brainer to me.
