| Former Deputy Sentenced For Stealing Marijuana From Evidence Locker Moore To Serve 90 Days In Jail 11-22-2004 | ChannelCincinnati WARREN COUNTY -- A former Warren County Deputy Sheriff was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to theft in office, WLWT News 5 reported. Michael Moore, 34, was sentenced to 90 days in jail after an investigation into drug possession and misconduct. Officials said investigators became suspicious of Moore after a tip from a suspect in an unrelated case. A search warrant was obtained to search Moore's vehicle. Investigators found an evidence envelope that contained marijuana that had been removed from the office evidence locker. The envelope was intended for a crime laboratory, but Moore apparently stole the marijuana. Police found loose marijuana and a glass pipe among Moore's possessions. "Moore abused a position of trust by taking drugs from the evidence locker. But, perhaps more importantly, his actions could have jeopardized prosecutions in a criminal case, and could have resulted in a guilty defendant going free, said Rachel Hutzel, Warren County prosecuting attorney. Moore was placed on three years' probation and will be required to complete a drug treatment program.
