A recent drug bust at Mitchell (S.D.) High School gives new meaning to the phrase "check under the hood" when purchasing a used vehicle.

In February, police with a drug-sniffing dog searched the Mitchell High School and Middle School grounds for drugs.

Two high school students were singled out as a result of the search.

One, an 18-year-old female, was arrested and later sentenced on drug charges, police said.

But a younger student, who owned a car in which marijuana was secreted, caught a break.

Based on the location of the marijuana, which police said was hard to access, and a negative drug Test voluntarily taken by the student, police determined it belonged to a previous owner.

"Basically, we found some very old drugs in the car," said Drug Task Force Officer Dean Knippling, who urged car buyers to take a close look at used vehicles.

LOL....can you at least change the headline to reflect the actual state it happened in? I mean, South Dakota rarely gets mentioned, as newsworthy stuff rarely happenes here (aside from meth lab busts, but those are so common they hardly warrent a mention), and we are not all one state (ND and SD) as people have actually tried to argue with me on! Yes, I have actually ran across people who insist we are only one state...the Dakotas....makes me wonder what geography teachers have been teaching these days......
