Default CAN: Politicians fight pot going door-to-door

Politicians fight pot going door-to-door
3-22-2005 | National Post

TORONTO -- Two politicians are going door-to-door in an east-end Toronto neighbourhood in hopes of weeding out marijuana grow-houses.

Scarborough-Agincourt MP Jim Karygiannis and city councillor Mike Del Grande say their crusade is already a success.

Toronto police Superintendent Tony Warr applauds the politicians' efforts, but says they should stick to lawmaking and let the police do the police work.

Warr says it's "almost vigilantism."

He says if the method used to obtain information is illegal, police can't execute a search warrant.

Karygiannis says his hands-on crusade against grow-ops is building awareness and promoting more community involvement.

He says they're not trying to promote vigilantism.

He says they're trying to promote "watch your neighbours."

In other words, they're trying to promote "spy on your neighbors". Big Brother goes door-to-door!

I would kindly tell that politician when they knocked on my door that they can go to hell, and that if they don't leave immediately I will report them to the police for harassment.

Talk about zealots. Now we have politicians trying to be the pot patrol, what a way to win some votes.

cnn reported last night that "4 canadian mounties where murdered recently investigating a 'marijuana ring'" . Does someone at the DEA work at CNN?. every week now canadians are being treated to pictures of fags in biohazzard suits walking out of suburban homes with straggly male's worth "$3000" each. Meanwhile the largest bust in same neghbourhood of Toronto this year was a 20 year veteran cop whole smuggled thousands from evidence room....gets ZERO air time and barely mentioned in paper. For the record...those mounties wheere investigating a car theft. They where shot by the cranky outlaw who owned the farm. this could have happenned to the newspaper boy on a different day.

Speaking of the 4 cops who were murdered in Canada, on here that story had been posted twice, the lying version of how they were investigating a marijuana grow, then the 2nd report came out that they were only there to re possess a truck. Americans Most Wanted aired a few days after this happend, toward the end of the show they had the in memory thing of the 4 cops who were shot in the line of duty. How they mentioned it though was by saying they were shot while staking out a marijuana grow factory! I never knew 20 plants in Canada was considered a grow factory in the first place, talk about false propaganda too on the incident that happend, anything to try and push the public into believing marijuana is the reason theres violence. They mentioned nothing of the cops bein there to re possess the truck but just lied and said they were there staking out the grow.

Back to this thread though, if a cop doesn't have a warrant you don't have to open your door. As for these politicians, you don't have to open your door for them either, just because you don't answer your door for them doesn't mean you have marijuana growing! It's not probable cause if they don't see it. They can go and tell the police yea so and so at such and such a address wouldn't open the door for us and the cops still don't have enough to work with. You simply don't open your door for strangers

quote: (I would kindly tell that politician when they knocked on my door that they can go to hell, and that if they don't leave immediately I will report them to the police for harassment.)

I agree with this statement, basically they have no buisness being on your property, they are tresspassing in my opinion and i would file a complaint.

I don't think people should be arrested for marijuana so don't get me wrong when i say this but as for now it's the law but it's one many of us break but these politicians take a chance of putting their life in danger, not all pot growers are violent or carry guns, but some depending on who the person is could be capable of beating them up pretty good for just being there. They should leave busting people up to the cops.

In conclusion they just need to mind their own buisness. It's true that it's just a way for them to get some votes, they are pathetic.

Default Neo-Nazi SS Canadian Mounted Police?

Man, with the amount of 'reefer madness' boiling over in Canada right now, it is making the US drug law reform efforts look good.

Luckily, we here in America have the Fourth Amendment right of bearing arms when a politician decides to come onto our property uninvited.

Good luck, Toronto.

Most of us believe the Second Amendment protects our right to keep and bear arms.

Second Amendment
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The Fourth Amendment protects us against unreasonable search and seizure.

Fourth Amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I live in that neighbourhood in scarborough. Why dont these heros stake out the plaza that gets robbed every week by gun toting scum? I dont care if some asian idiot is growing ****ty commercial in my neighbourhood. I just dont want to get shot, or mugged or have my car broken into. Seriously some one stole my lawn chair, and i swear to god, someone stole my sprinkler. I came out in the morning and my hose was just running, they stole a sprinkler while it was running. I visited my friend in whitby and noticed how a day care leave their toys and plastic jungle gym thing outside and i said "in scarborough that stuff would be stolen". I cant leave a kids bike with training wheels in my backyard or someone will steal it and give to their kid. The whitby person didnt believe me, and then my brother said the same thing when he went there, "wow they leave all those toys outside, that would get stolen in scarborough for sure". I expected my nativity scene to get ripped off, and these politicians are out looking for weed.

"every week now canadians are being treated to pictures of fags in biohazzard suits walking out of suburban homes with straggly male's worth "$3000" each."

No kidding! They only wear the suits when the media cameras are there. What if a crime happened in a tomato grow op? Would they wear the suits to go in? Hell no. But yet the process of weed and tomato growing is the same, they dont spray poison gas weed or any of the lies that the Toronto sun wants us to believe either. Anyone who knows anying about growing knows its safe to do in a house with kids too. If you grow all naturally its healthy, and the mold thing is totally hysteria at its best.
Every one of the grow houses busted in scarborough is of low grade, asian grown "beaster" weed. It isnt worth ****. You might get fooled by it and buy a dime bag, but no one is paying big bucks for that garbage. The police always want to feel important, so every bust is worth a zillion dollars on the "steeet". The people with the know how to grow good stuff only get caught very rarely. Like in barrie where the cops just sort stumbled on it. I bet that mayerthorpe weed was good. I wish i could buy good weed at a store, not from crazed gun toting loners. Make it legal!

Anyone who knows anying about growing knows its safe to do in a house with kids too.

I agree, they try and make indoor marijuana grows sound as bad as a meth lab! Then they throw in the papers about all kinds of fertilizers used to grow the illegal herb and all these high intensity lights they found, same stuff used to grow house plants or vegetables lol but when they find marijuana they gotta make their bust sound very important.

I also like how this person mentioned theres real crimes in progress and politicians are more worried about people growing marijuana, they could careless, they just want their votes but some of the public is too brain dead to notice. Like on these commercials, they show politicians acting like they really care about a certain issue, meanwhile when the cameras off they probably say wow i hope people bought this bullsh*t cause i really need the votes!

I never knew they put on special suits to go into a grow house lol, again they make it sound like it's a meth lab they are walking into. I've been around flowering female plants in a room as well as many other people who go on this site, did we need to be hospitalized for it? Of course not(it's just a plant), if aloe plants were illegal and people grew them and were bein arrested for it, i'm sure they would put those suits on too just to confiscate them! These big growers take care of their plants without needing to wear one and live to tell about it, these stupid grow busters we'll call them, go in for who knows how long just to rip the plants up and put on a show for the public by getting into those uniforms like they are handling somethin very dangerous!

quote: Just last week on the news they said it was 200 plants. I wonder how they can get away with that.

They really did say 20 plants on the reports about 2 weeks ago, but maybe they figure they look stupid by sayin the cops staked out 20 plants calling it a grow factory so they decided to say 200, but who knows.

Hopefully this reefer madness will end someday, it's turned a lot of people into pathalogical liars when it comes to this subject.
