Default TX: Border Patrol Agents Accused in Drug Scheme

Border Patrol Agents Accused in Drug Scheme
AP | KLTV | 04/07/2005

LAREDO, Texas Two Laredo brothers -- including a lawman -- are accused of accepting bribes from drug dealers. Prosecutors in Laredo say an indictment unsealed today names 35-year-old Senior Border Patrol agent Juan Alvarez and 38-year-old Jose Guadalupe Alvarez.

The 12-count indictment outlines extortion, bribery, drug conspiracy and firearm charges against the siblings.

The brothers are charged with accepting about one and a-half (M) million dollars in bribes to allow marijuana and cocaine through a checkpoint.

The time frame was June of 2003 -- until last month.

Both men are held pending a court appearance tomorrow.

Juan Alvarez worked at the Border Patrol's highway checkpoint at Hebbronville.

Jose Guadalupe Alvarez is accused of working as the middleman between his brother and the drug dealers.

Default So What?

These two brothers just happened to get caught but I'm sure there are a LOT more agents out there taking bribes to allow dope into the country.
A LOT more!
Can you blame them?
They know that dope is here to stay and they see the futility in the job they have as well as the enormous amounts of money to be made in the black market profits from dope.
They also know that there is a good chance they won't have Social Security or decent, livable retirement pensions either.
This "war on drugs" fuels CORRUPTION at ALL levels, but greed is a downfall for many and they get caught.
Get in and get out....and retire!
