| Medical Marijuana Clinic To Open On Oahu Associated Press| KPUAT.net | 06/24/2005 HONOLULU (AP) A mainland marijuana advocacy group plans to open a Honolulu clinic designed to help people become certified for Hawaii's medical marijuana program. The Hemp and Cannabis Foundation of Portland, Oregon, says it is closed to obtaining a lease on office space near The Queen's Medical Center. It hopes to open the clinic on August 1st. Foundation executive director Paul Stanford says the clinic will be manned by a licensed physician and nurse practitioner. Stanford said he had hoped to open the Honolulu clinic this week but put the project on hold after the U-S Supreme Court ruled on June 6th that the federal government may prosecute people who smoke marijuana with a doctor's prescription. U-S Attorney Edward Kubo said the ruling was the ``death knell'' for Hawaii's medical marijuana program. But he later back off a comment that he would prosecute doctors for certifying marijuana for their patients.
