| I watched the show for the first time tonight. I don't see why people are complaining for. This goes on in real life suburban towns anyway and i think this just exposes that. Every suburban town someone knows someone who smokes pot or sells it. In this series it has your average people using marijuana, people who stay low key with it because of their jobs, etc. I watched behind the scenes when they interviewed the actors and actresses and they got to say their views with marijuana. One of them said how someone can drink about 5 martinis or it might have been margarita's, either way, 5 alcoholic drinks and then they turn around and critize someone for smoking a joint. I always saw it the sameway too. How is this show any different from a movie or music? In movies people deal drugs, in music videos they sell drugs or they sing about it in songs, it's nothing new. Some people just like to hear themselves talk. In the show the mother even tells someone not to sell it to kids, i don't see this as bad for the public because in real life theres some adults who do sell to kids and should learn a lesson from it. In the real world that is what these politicians complain about the most is kids getting drugs. In this series they are against kids having drugs too. I live in a suburban area, i doubt i'm the only person on here who does but some of these people who are complaining about this show would be surprised if they ever interviewed a few of us and we talked about certain people we knew that smoked or sold pot just because of what their jobs were. I'd say this new series sums this up that it goes on everywhere and not just in the ghetto like some would have others believe. I'm sure a lot of people on here live in suburban areas too, i bet some of their neighbors would be surprised if they knew they had plants growing in their basements or closets. Someone gets caught in a high class neighborhood, all you hear the neighbors say is, you know they have such and such a job, nice person, etc, i can't believe it! I can, they are people just like anyone else and live different lifestyles. Maybe wear the same clothes, their neighbors wear, drive the same cars, but some like drinking, some like to smoke weed. This woman who says the pot today is stronger than it was when she was growing up, i'd like to hear her say that statement to my father or any other person who knew what good pot was back in the 60's or 70's. Maybe her and some of these other politicians who make those statements didn't know the right people and always got stuck with schwag. I know my dad wasn't the only guy who got good pot 30 or 40 years ago, i heard other people on this site say almost the samething he told me. Some weed, just a half joint was enough to put someone down or a full joint was enough to get 10 people high, i wouldn't consider that to be 1% THC lol. He used to talk of Panama Red, or Colombian Gold, or Thai, bein some of the best stuff he ever blazed and i heard other people on this site mention those strains and almost the same comments. I wasn't around back then but i'll take their word for it. Anyone who has any knowlege of growing knows that outdoor pot is supposedly stronger because of the sun. Theres still pot grown outdoors and alot grown indoors under artificial light, but natural sunlight will make it more potent, especially in a good growing season. Back in the 60s and 70s a large amount of the pot was imported from tropical places that had year round growing seasons. I don't think you can say that pot would be weak, if anything some of the strongest pot from back then could probably be almost as strong if not stronger than some of the pot of now. Some of these complainers might say somethin to me or my father because of what he told us, but atleast he didn't hide what he used to do and admits it. I'm of age now and my parents don't smoke anymore, haven't in years but i'm glad i wasn't raised by hypocrits. I got lectured about harder drugs and you know somethin, i don't go near them so to say kids will do what the parents did, i don't really agree on too much, although it's possible. It's not like they said go and smoke pot, when he found out me and my sis had used it, all he said was it's not really a good habit to get into, pretty much because it's illegal. He went through addiction with a off topic drug(coke) but all the years he smoked pot was never addicted. People are addicted to the drug(tobacco) i don't see judges making them go to rehab or hearing people in the white house creating all kinds of problems for those people. As of now i know some minors who are addicted to tobacco, no one says think of the children with that drug and you know why? It's because those people smoke cigarettes themselves and don't want it takin away from them, especially people in power of this country who like to smoke a cigarette, but they can turn around and critize anyone because they like to smoke some pot. Cigarettes and alcohol get used in movies or shows all the time, even if the alcohol isn't real we get the point, they show brand names on real bottles. A hot girl smokes a cig or drinks a beer, no one says "MY KID IS GONNA SMOKE CIGARETTES OR DRINK BEER NOW CAUSE HE JUST SAW SOME GIRL SMOKE ONE" It's probably because those same people who have kids that watch shows with tobacco or alcohol like those products and use them or atleast has one relative or has friends that do, oh yea and because they are labled "LEGAL". When i was little i used to watch R rated movies with drugs, guns, etc, i didn't go around beating people up or get messed up on all kinds of drugs, it's all in how your raised. I saw things on tv but the difference was, i wasn't raised by a tv, i was raised by my parents, i was smart enough to know the difference between right and wrong. Again, this new series just points out that all kinds of people smoke pot. Maybe some of those complainers have something to hide and are scared "WEED" might make people in real life suburban areas more suspicious to what their neighbors might actually be doing on the side from their real job. Maybe some of them are nervous their kids might catch a glimpse of the show and relate to how their parents function and say, "mommy or daddy" why do you say your just going for a ride/going out for a little while and come back about 5 minutes later? Uh, why do you ask? "Well because i once saw this show on tv where this mom said she was going out for a little while and took this green leafy stuff with her!" People have a button on their remote or tv, the show is on late anyway. If people don't like it they don't have to watch it. I remember, was a good 12 years ago being 10 years old if not younger, staying up late with my sister who was about 2 years older than me, watchin shows like beavis and butt-head but we both knew enough not to go out and do what we saw. Some people were stupid enough to and blamed the show. They should blame the parents for how they raise their kids and not the shows. Beavis and butt-head was blamed by parents for what their kids did, jackass got blamed, even when they finally did have disclaimers for both shows, parents and politicians were still all over it, now we have "Weed" and politicians and some parents are all over that With that said i got 3 words for them "GET A LIFE" |

Don't believe everything you read. A higher concentration of thc only really means one thing.....less weed will get you higher. this is a good thing, since the most common method of introducing marijuana to the body is smoking. Higher potency means less smoke, which means fewer health problems associated with the inhalation of smoke. I smoke as much as anyone I know, and I cant say I've had any increase in suicidal behavior or symptoms of schizophrenia. Its just more reefer madness, meant to scare the unknowing public into thinking marijuana today is somehow much more dangerous than the very same pot they smoked when they were younger. Its all hype, with little substance | |

Just as we have better tomatoes, corn, and eggplants, we have developed better forms of cannabis for the purpose of indoor growing and THC content. Quote:

| With respect to the "today's marijuana causes schizophrenia (because it is five, ten, twenty, three hundred percent stronger than grandpa's, or whatever)" claim, I'd like to add that hashish seems to have been known for thousands of years, and has a higher THC content. Furthermore, it would appear that cultivation, production, availability and consumption of ganja's stronger strains are increased by pot prohibitions. In the same way, moonshine and bathtub gin use increased drastically during last century's 'noble experiment', during which kids were coming to school drunk, according to newspaper accounts of the day. Since the inception of Reefer Madness, pot use has apparently accelerated to the point where more than half of all high school seniors surveyed now claim they have tried the stuff. Nobody asked, just my opinion. |

| I watched the pilot last night (someone recorded it for me). It was great! What a fantastic show! I love the ones that are on the cutting edge (of controversy, hehe), and Showtime seems to have plenty of those! To those who are coming out against it and wish it would go off the air (mostly parents), I say -- what the hell are you doing letting your kid watch a channel like Showtime in the first place! I mean, Weeds basically interrupts the softcore porn, you know?

| Good points. What I did fail to mention is yeah, MJ's myths are lot more researched and of course it's even safe to assume that they're not being force fead to us via propaganda. I haven't read them in probably a couple years or some ****. Good post though, and the cookie was great.
