Default at least you get buds in the USA

over here in France (and much of the European Union included) the majority of cannabis on the black market is hash, often you get good, uncut hash in France but we sometimes get hash that is polluted with pine tar resin, shampoo, camel crap, sometimes even other drugs such as ketamin are mixed in with sawdust and shampoo and sold as hash. In the UK the hash is terrible, it is often mixed with used tyres, plastic or wax and will not even burn up all the way in a pipe/or burns with black smoke. In the Netherlands where people have access to hash and grass in stores people no longer have to smoke polluted, cut hash, they can smoke clean hash or cannabis flowers. Here in France I take my chances when I buy hash, sometimes even throwing out what I buy after tasting it. My other option is to look to buy buds, (extremely rare here) or grow my own. Thankfully the harvest season is nearing.

Legalizing cannabis across the board would mean that people like me across Europe would no longer have to unknowlingly smoke hash cut with other substances. Prohibition increases the harm done to me by providing me with a product of unknown purity.

Good points Reggie, and yes that is what I hear from everywhere that the EU has tons of hash and not much bud. The U.S. is just the opposite. We have buds everywhere

Is there a French organization that is leading the effort to legalize over there? Anyways good luck with reform efforts, we are all going to need it!

Default oh boy

"Is there a French organization that is leading the effort to legalize over there? Anyways good luck with reform efforts, we are all going to need it!"
yes there is the CIRC association, but seeing as it is illegal to advocate using illegal drugs here in France they are busted constantly, last time for introducing a campaing to tell people why it is better to smoke pure cannabis or pure hash than it is to mix it with tobacco.

thats our prohibition, if you smoke weed you really only risk having it taken from you or perhaps being fined 100 euros, but if you try to change the law you can loose much more.

The good news is that for the last 15 years a higher and higher percentage of people have been using cannabis, now a third of young people (18-25) smoke at least 4 times a week so the issue of legalization will not go away. Until it is legal my friends and I will have to content ourselves with growing our own so as to avoid the black market as much as possible.

You would think you could avoid advocating the use of the drug and stick to arguing for a change in public policy. Avoid the campaigns for safety (as sad as that may seem) and focus on just the prohibition law itself. Am I wrong? Would this be possible? Our American organizations pretty much do this anyways, at least the big three do.

You can see the flaws in being high on Marijuana, differing from Alcohol in the anger in Alcohol, the distortions on Alcohol.

Default well, you think you could

The problem here in France is that if you wear a T shirt that simply has a cannabis leaf on it you break the law because it "puts marijuana in a positive light" so my hemp clothing that has a tiny leaf tag on it is illegal under French law, but legal because of commerce laws within the European union (the shirt is legal under UK law where i bought it).

The govt. today is right wing, but due to public opinion they have admitted that the govt. cannot justify jailing anyone for using cannabis. This does not mean, however, that they are all that cool. For example they say that saying marijuana should be legal IS advocation of the use of an illegal drug, and therefore illegal. In Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, however it is not and you can sell books such as "The Emperor Wears no Clothes" there and they cannot stop you from bringing it back to France because of the EU commerce laws. At present time CIRC's website is ran from Switzerland and I have seen other sites from French speaking Belgium advocating the change of the law (and advocating smoking cannabis) in France.

A major store chain (FNACC) sort of like tower records, has been selling cultivation guides in France, they are rich, and their lawyers say it is legal because if you can sell something legally in one EU country you can sell them in all, they have had no problem, but poor black vendors selling t-shirts in open air markets have been busted for the cannabis leaves on them (they are really busted for being poor and black), and the cops have been giving a hard time to people selling seeds (legally sold in Spain and the UK and therefore everywhere in the EU now.)

As far as cultural acceptability cannabis use is accepted as something that is going to happen by the vast majority of people under 65, some people may think this is unfortunate, but they accept that different people do things different ways, and they see that cannabis users really pose no threat to them, themselves, or the overall wellbeing of France so they really do not give a **** what people are smoking. Thats why we can get away with smoking in plain view even in small towns here.

I wrote this in response to the article. http://fredtalk.fredericksburg.com/s...=5&o=2&fpart=1

I still don't see a valid reason for why cannabis should not be legal. You say you don't want kids driving around while "high"? They're going to do that legal or illegal. The only real problem with that, is there is no way for police officers to test them for it. Perhaps they should be required to keep their bong in a bag, like alcohol.

Want to keep kids off drugs? Stop DAREing kids to use drugs. That is what Anti Drug Propiganda is doing. Just check out the NIDA (National Institute Of Drug Abuse) Publication for teens. http://www.nida.nih.gov/MarijBroch/teenpg3-4.html#use

Why Do Young People Use Marijuana?

Quote:

Some teens may feel they need marijuana and other drugs to help them escape from problems at home, at school, or with friends.

When kid who is having problems at home reads this message, they just found a reason to use it. On a subconscious level, they will do it to rebel.

Legalizing it would be a better route for keeping kids off drugs. One, it will thow out the Gateway effect: If they use marijuana they are more likely to use other drugs; if they come to believe this, it shall become a reality. If cannabis is legal, it will be grow everywhere. It will grow old to rebellious kids, untill the kids grow old and become mature, and informed. Then it would make a good hobby, with great rewards.
