Pretty much.

But think about this; I bet any person that someone can name to look up to had some opinion that would shock some populace, if not everyone.

He's helped a lot of people. Not to mention the cause that most of us are on here to talk about; marijuana legalization. But it comes back to what his opinions are, or his character.

Do those things negate who he's helped and what he's done? To some, they sure do. Not to me, and I disagree with a lot of the things he says.

Buzzby, you used the same attempt to attribute Marc Emery to the holocaust that he used on Irwin Cotler. What right do you have to knock him for it? You perceive his comments or actions the equivelant of Hitler, he perceives Mr. Cotler's comments or actions the same as a Nazi-Jew (a term for someone who effectively sells out their countrymen, actually. It fits pretty well, but fails, because of how offending it is to a lot of people.)

On what grounds? Because of his opinion on public medicare? Or his personal opinion of the man that's effectively in charge of handing him over to life in prison?

Saint? Don't know, not Catholic, don't care. I don't believe in 'Saints' (perfect people or some ****)

Martyr?
-One who suffers for the sake of principle
-One who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty for refusing to renounce their religion

Well, this remains to be seen, doesn't it?

Just remember one thing; anybody's attempt to discredit him because of his political or social beliefs is disregarding the issue; marijuana legalization. That's what he cares about, and that's what cannabis users should care about.

Pursuing the mindset that he deserves to go to jail for charges unrelated to his unliked opinions is fine. Just don't think that you're values and opinions are better or greater than his, as that's very undemocratic.

Democratic (adj.):
Characterized by or advocating or based upon the principles of democracy or social equality.

Sorry, but this whole idea of "he agrees with me about pot, so he is worth admiring" just doesn't wash.

Tim McVeigh was pro Second Amendment, but I don't think I should admire him.

I admit, it's often harsh to judge a person on a single issue. Likewise, overlooking other things about a person just because of how they view a single issue simply doesn't make sense to me.

So if you want to say "Emery may be a son of a b*tch, but he's our son of a b*tch" fine with me. Just don't be surprised when others call him a SOB too.

Only if they're incredibly stupid and/or paranoid. Marc Emery is being charged with crimes he committed across the US border, violations of US law. As long as Canadian growers are not shipping their product to the United States they have nothing to worry about from the US government or the DEA.

And you're the guy saying we should try to cater to the non smoking population. Every time you reference marijuana users you call them potheads and make some completely stupid comment about them making themselves less intelligent by smoking cannabis.

You're easily just as counter productive as Marc Emery ever will be.
