Talking the one thing i loved back in the usa

"THAT IS CALLED Freedom of Speech in The USA!"

thats one thing i love about the usa (dont live in the usa anymore because there is a lot i dont like, but thats another subject)

where i live now lots of the things i see as not so good in the usa are better here

except one really messed up point

here in France i am way less likely to even be fined for possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis than I was in Illinois,

but if i say to somone SMOKE CANNABIS INSTEAD OF TOBACCO, ITS BETTER FOR YOU HEALTH i can be arrested and given a large fine or jail time FOR INCITING THE USE OF AN ILLEGAL DRUG

they recently busted a member of the green party for doing something like this and he was fined 1,500 euros (he is appealing to the European Union, as freedom of speech rights are stronger in the EU texts than they are in the French constitution. )

Thankfully European Union laws trump out French laws (having lived in the USA i understand this although most French do not) so folks get these kind of cases thrown out, but if you dont have the money for a lawyer and the fine is only say, 100 euros, folks choose to pay the fine instead of fighting it (i am thinking of t-shirt sellers getting bused for incitation of drug use for having a cannabis leaf on a t-shirt they sell, even though these products are legal in a country like the UK where there is more freedom of speech and now, thanks to the treaties of Maastrich and Nice, legal in all EU countries. The little guy will just pay the fine, the bigger seed sellers have the money to fight it, so you can find skunk number 1 seeds easily in stores around Paris (cannabis seeds are legal as fishing bait in the UK and some other countries, so now they are legal all over the EU you just cannot sprout them in France)

strangely people growing fields of industrial hemp are not charged with inciting drug use here in france even though their fields are filled with cannabis leaves

Detectives released on Friday a photograph of a 19-year-old Largo man who they say shot a teenager Monday during a drug deal.

I wouldn't say he was shot trying to buy pot, he was simply robbed and the marijuana was used as an excuse to get him to show up with money or maybe he did have the pot on him but if he did, he probably knew before the person showed up, he wasn't going to sell it to him and just rob him.

"Daiuto, whose juvenile record includes charges of grand theft and burglary, then ran away, the detective said."

Big surprise, another criminal with a gun. This guy has a history of crime, shoots someone and because he tricked someone into believing they were going to buy marijuana from him, some people will still read this article in a paper and think it was a drug deal gone bad even though it was just a robbery.

I agree, if it was legalized he would have bought the pot in a store and wouldn't be going to the hospital. If he actually had the money on him and not in the car, then he should have just gave it to him, when someone has a gun and is threatning to shoot you, you don't want to find out if the person is bluffing or not. By the time the doctors get done with his leg, i bet the medical bill will be bigger than what the pot would have probably costed him.

Well, maybe not on marijuana but the FDA has supposedly threatend to lock up a author of the book, "Nature Cures They Don't Want You To Know About" it's legal to give opinion, not to mention natural health store products are legal to use.

Just do a search on that book, you will easily find it, the author is Kevin Trudeau. He claims giving his opinion on specific natural remmedies to cure or prevent disease the FDA has threatend to prosecute him and supposedly they have put people in jail for it even though it's opinion/freedom of speech. He even came on tv and made those accusations against them and if they were lies or rumors he was trying to start, he was never sued for it so i'm assuming it was true.

That's because Kevin Trudeau a con artist who makes fraudulent claims about his "cures." His run-ins with the FTC are about his infomercials, and not his book per se.

Thanks for those links, what made me think more that maybe he was right was because i saw a lot of natural cures websites that were from physicians in other parts of the world and not the U.S that talked a little about stuff like this going on in our country and they were giving descriptions of what each of those remmedies did without fear of being arrested or prosecuted, but i haven't seen sites like that in our country so between those claims and his i started to think it might be true because even in his book he wouldn't give descriptions like that. Either way personally i would see a doctor before treating somethin on my own wheather it's natural or not and even people in the health stores don't agree with everything he says either but my post wasn't really about that, it was just questioning wheather people really went to jail for those types of opinions, but after reading those stories in those links you posted i'm not surprised they would want him locked up.

"You have the most interesting ideas! Please name one person who has been locked up for saying the wrong thing."

Does it count when people are placed in jail for contempt of court after making a comment?

Hitchhiking? That's illegal in some places. Nothing to do with free speech.
