| Pro-Cannabis Lobbyists Come Out Swinging NewsTalkZB | 09/28/2005 The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party is sending an impassioned plea to Helen Clark, asking her to reject United Future and New Zealand First. Leader Michael Appleby is asking the caretaker prime minister to form a government which would be open to debate on cannabis law reform. He specifically points to United Future and New Zealand First as parties that would block any such reform. Mr Appleby says it is inhumane to continue to prosecute and convict New Zealanders who use marijuana, when more than half the population have tried it. He also claims gang growth and crime are directly related to cannabis prohibition.
