I wonder why there is never any mention of the clause in the Constitution delegating the power to the federal government to prohibit drugs for recreational purposes?

Perhaps it's because there isn't any such clause.

Niteshift and other pro-tyranny folks will claim that the Declaration of Independence isn't the law, which is correct as it is superceded by the Constitution.

It wasn't superceded. It was never law.

However, if you examine the Ninth Amendment you will see that all rights not specifically protected by the Constitution still are constitutionally protected.

A right to recreation has never been established, therefore isn't protected.

Why should the government regulate anything we do in the pursuit of happiness as long as it does not interfere with other people's rights? The government has a right to prohibit drinking and driving because there is a real threat to someone else's life, but the government should not mandate that a person can only drink one beer per hour at home, right?

Same with MJ. As long as you are not committing a crime in relation to MJ use or infringing on the rights of others, the govt. should not regulate or deny you the right to toke in the privacy of your own home or cultivate a small amount on your own property for personal use. Likewise, you should not be able to toke while driving or operating heavy equipment due to the inherent
risk associated with these activities on other people's lives.

The government has an obligation to enact laws to protect its citizens; however, these laws ought to relate to how the crime affects other people. If you can sit at home and legally drink a case of beer till you pass out, you should be able to blaze up all you want so long as you dont get in a car and cruise down to Taco Bell because you got the munchies.

Default Why I don't drink Alcohol

There was never anyway for me to get alcohol when I was underage, or cigarettes for that matter. All the stores carded you, and I didn't know anyone old enough that would buy it for me. But the dealers, they don't check I.D., the illegal drugs were the only ones that are availible to many young kids. If MJ was legal, and I had to go to a store and show I.D. for it, I never would have been able to get it. I've heard many say, "that's bull shit" when anyone makes that arguement, but right here is living proof.

BTW, I'm not saying this to anyone specific, it's just an after thought, but, "That's bullshit" is not an arguement to anything, it's just a sign of unintelligence.

Now that is bullshit. So was the rest of your story. If you could find someone to sell drugs to a minor, I am sure you could have got some beer and cigs probably from the same guy.

This thread is a year old too and that's bullshit.

Yeah it seemed abit odd to bump a year old thread with a unrelated post. =/

It was much easier and convenient to buy pot at school then it was to get someone to buy cigs and alcohol for me. /shrug
