| German Teenager Jailed For 6 Months In Singapore For Marijuana Possession AP | Mainichi Daily News | 12/09/2005 SINGAPORE -- A German teenager has been jailed for six months after he was caught with marijuana hidden in his underwear on a flight into Singapore, a local newspaper reported Saturday. Ray Sebastian Nantwi Lutzenkirchen, 19, was arrested upon arrival in the city-state for smoking in a plane toilet on a flight from Bahrain Dec. 2, the local Straits Times said. Police searching him after his arrest found 1.53 grams of marijuana hidden in his underwear, the paper said. Lutzenkirchen pleaded guilty and was sentenced Friday, the paper said. He could have been jailed for 10 years. (Lothnote: Ahem. It may be best to abstain from bringing marijuana to Singapore) Singapore has some of the world's toughest drug laws, including a mandatory death penalty for anyone caught with more than 15 grams of heroin or more than 500 grams of marijuana. Those convicted are hanged. Court officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

| People really need to study the laws of any country they are visiting, and weigh the pros and cons of bringing their stashes with them. This guy was BEGGING for trouble by smoking on a flight to such a country, and especially for having some left on arrival. Singapore has never attempted to hide their reputation of being hard on drug offenders. While I agree the laws in many places are unbelievably harsh, its the responsibility of the user to be aware of this. If you're willing to risk 10 yars of your freedom for a high or two, I think you need to reevaluate your priorities |

| Wait, there are people in the world so stupid that they smoke weed on the plane? I mean, I know people that smuggle a small stash when they go on vacation or something, but I didn't know there were people who actually did it on the plane. This guy deserves 6 months in prison just because hes a dumba$$.
