| Feds want drug houses George Dorsey | Frederick News-Post | January 14, 2006 BALTIMORE -- Federal agents want to seize Frederick and Bethesda houses that were used to grow and package marijuana. The forfeiture suits were filed this month in U.S. District Court and were based on trash pulls conducted by Maryland State Police, according to court records. At each house, the garbage bags were taken and examined for possible drugs. The trash bags had been discarded by residents for trash pickup. The Frederick house, with an appraised value of $118,240, is at 1034 Staghorn Ave. Its owner is Larry C. Wyatt. According to Trooper First Class Caitlin Pavon, the trash bags were seized Nov. 9, 2005. Police said they found a glass smoking device with suspected cocaine and suspected marijuana. Twenty days later during a search of the house, police found 38 marijuana plants, 16 recently harvested plants, bags of marijuana and about $8,000 in cash. Mr. Wyatt confessed to police he'd grown marijuana at the home for three years with a 16-plant harvest each month, according to court documents. The Bethesda house, at 4510 Avamere St., has an assessed value of $523,300. Erle Burke, 53, and Daryle Walcoff Burke, 50, are listed as the owners of the house. The trash pull was made by Trooper First Class Charlene Yinger on Dec. 2, 2005. Police said suspected marijuana was found in the garbage bag. During a subsequent search of the residence, police found a marijuana-growing operation in the basement. Police seized five plants and found 12 harvested plants and numerous small amounts of processed marijuana. Richard Charles Kay, assistant U.S. Attorney, filed the forfeiture actions. The actions were filed under federal law that permits forfeiture of property traceable to money earned in the trade of illegal drugs. Hearing dates have not been set. |

| Anyone who cultivates should always try to remember not to discard anything related to their "hobby" in their trash. I myself, incinerate all waste and discard elswhere. Be careful folks!!

| It's a great way for law enforcement to raise some revenue to buy some more police equipment that will be used to seize more drug assets and the cycle goes on and on. |
