Default GBR: Addict in attack on his mother

Addict in attack on his mother
Jamie Hill | Wiltshire | 1/18/06

A CANNABIS addict assaulted his mother after she refused to drive him to Winchester to pick up some drugs, a court heard.

Chris Black, 19, grabbed his mother by the throat and pushed her up against the wall, before smashing her mobile phone, according to Rhys Davies, prosecuting.

He then punched a police officer who had been called to calm the situation down.

Swindon Magistrates' Court heard that Black had been staying at his mother's house in Covingham for two weeks after losing his accommodation in Surrey before the assault on December 10.

Mr Davies said: "He is a regular cannabis user and as a result he has a bad temper but this gets worse when he doesn't have any.

"He asked his mother to take him to Winchester so that he could see a friend who could sort him out' with some drugs.

"She refused and an argument started.

"He got so angry that he grabbed her by the throat and pinned her up against the radiator."

The court heard that the row then escalated as he accused his mother of loving his sister more.

"He then forced her to call his sister and during that call he grabbed the phone off his mother and smashed it against the wall," added Mr Davies.

"He then demanded that his mother call her daughter again, this time from his phone. It was after this call that the daughter alerted the police."

The court heard that when the police arrived they found Black in an aggressive state and while trying to calm him down he took a swing at the officer.

Mike Pulsford, defending, said: "He has had a difficult upbringing with past events involving abuse from his elder sister meaning he had to be put into care.

"He is obviously regretful of this incident and has since found his own accommodation back in Surrey."

He admitted one count of common assault, one charge of criminal damage to a mobile phone, and one charge of assaulting a police officer.

Stupid Mike. I can't believe he thinks that emotional trauma can make a person angry. It was obviously cannabis, because its known that cannabis was created by the lord of darkness, Satan, to ruin mankind and make people sin. Idiot.

I love how the article's title insinuates that marijuana is the cause of this guy's outburst. Maybe he is just an emotionally disturbed person who happens to use cannabis.

I'd like to see what credible scientific study increases aggression. I think there are at least a few cited in "Marijuana: A New Look at the Scientific Evidence" that suggests it decreases aggression.
