Default AR: Insurance On That Pot?

Insurance On That Pot?
Kerri Madru | KTHV | 02/09/2006

Drug dealers are apparently finding a new way to get illegal drugs into the hands of Arkansans.

The First Judicial Drug Task Force says five people were arrested Wednesday after someone in Texas used Fed Ex to ship 36 pounds of marijuana to homes in Forrest City and Marianna.

FedEx has its own K-9 security team, which found the drugs inside two packages. One of the packages contained 16 pounds of marijuana. The other package contained 20 pounds.

According to a statement issued Thursday by the Drug Task Force, FedEx alerted them to the shipment and arranged for a sting operation. An undercover agent posed as a delivery person.

Four people were arrested at the home in Forrest City where the package was being sent. One person was arrested in Marianna.

Point taken!
Definitely thanks for sharing that.
Certainly the kind of info one wants to have BEFORE doing something stupid, which unfortunately the four arrested in the sting were not privy to.
(Damn, I really need to start growing )

The old way is new again? No, this way is very old, and dare I say outdated.

To prove how old this method is, FedEx has its own K-9 security team in place for just this type of situation. How many years of planning and negotiation went into the task of FedEx setting up its own K-9 security team?

This would indicate to me that this method is not new at all, and the authorities are so aware of this old way of doing it, that FedEx itself has a K-9 security team, as a non-governmental post office, to protect itself from implication in any conspiracy such as this.

The method is as old as dirt. How many times has the same situation been written up in the news? The writer of this story is trying to pass this off as a new way... but for who and why?

Maybe it's new to Arkansas. Maybe it's the first time this reporter has heard of it. KTHV is not The New York Times.
