Naw... I got Differential -- just always had a block on Integral ...

...but you know I bet you could hook me on Integral Cassius, when I don't have 4 other courses and a GPA hanging over my head, I might even be able to relax and enjoy learning it. Stress was always what got me in college -- really should have started smoking earlier in life.

Default *sigh* i need a joint......

with regards to this article, i don't think the proper scientific method would allow these reseachers to make any kind of conclusive statement about the effects of marijuana.

All of their numbers are just averages. The part that gets me especially is the number of years smoking. Chances are, the group of people who have been smoking for more than 15 years are going to be, on average, significantly older than the group who have been smoking for an average of 7 years. No offence meant to the more experienced members, but its a fact that younger people are more adept to learn new things. And as has been said before already, that "joint" doesn't mean anything; could be a 1/4 gram could be 2g.

I can't stand how people can get away with flaws like this and not be properly heald acountable to their research. The same goes for the journalists who continually print "facts" that have been disproven time and time again. makes me sick......

Consistently, the word "marijuana" seems to have a debilitating effect on the institutional memory and intellectual honesty of prohibitionists and publishers alike:

from "Calculus - 3rd Edition" by James Stewart, McMaster University:

"In differential calculus, the tangent problem led us to formulate, in terms of limits, the idea of a derivative, which later turned out to be applicable, through velocities and other rates of change, to a variety of applied problems."

"In integral calculus, the area problem leads us to formulate, again in terms of limits, the idea of an integral, which will later be used to find volumes, lengths of curves, work, and forces, and to solve problems in chemistry, physics, biology, and economics."

" . . . (A) connection between the two branches of calculus . . . called the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus . . . greatly simplifies the solution of many problems."

"We begin by attempting to solve the area problem . . . (i)n trying to solve the area problem we have to ask ourselves: What is the meaning of the word area? The question is easy to answer for regions with straight sides. For a rectangle, the area is defined as the product of the length and the width. The area of a triangle is half the base times the height. This area of a polygon is found by dividing it into triangles and adding the areas of the triangles."

"However, it is not so easy to find the area of a region with curved sides. We all have an intuitive idea of what the area of a region is. But part of the area problem is to make this intuitive idea precise by giving an exact definition of area."

" . . . (I)n defining a tangent we first approximated the slope of the tangent line by slopes of secant lines and then we took the limit of these approximations. We pursue a similar idea for areas. We first approximate the region by polygons and then we take the limit of the areas of these polygons."

"How bout we prescribe some herb to anger management candidates?"[/quote]

Hey, thats actually a really interesting idea. That makes me want to become a pshycologist just so i can do that test. If it works it would go a long long way towards proving th theraputic value of marijuana to the non-believers.
