They use that money to buy guns and more drugs

So what you have is an organized group of people with guns, drugs, and money. Gangs become greedy and want more turf to sell their drugs on. So they get into fights or "gang wars" with other gangs that are usually violent in nature over turf. Sometimes innocent people get caught in the cross fire.
I totally agree. However a thought came to me while reading your post. If drugs are no longer a source of income for the gangs. What are they going to do to fill the void. With all those guns I doubt that they will go to work at McDonalds. We will have violent gangs looking for a new source of income.

well i dont really want to get into the legalization argument, but i would however rather a gang make its money by growing/making or selling drugs, than have to make their income by using their guns to see whats in my wallet next time i walk by

Thumbs down

Really? You would?

Personally I would rather see MJ legalized and the people who smoke it legally growing their own at home. Then, all the extra DEA agents and/or police-force/SWAT-team members could go and put their efforts into erradicating the violent gangs that are causing this problem to begin with. Gangs and gang violence is the new face of fascism. Criminals who own guns SHOULD NOT be given the right to run business in our communities!

WAKE UP!

Heavy users of electricity will be reported to police under new B.C. legislation.
Near the end of this month, municipalities will have BC Hydro records on demand, data which will be turned over to police to determine whether spikes in power use were caused by a marijuana grow operation.

Marijuana grow ops require high power consumption, typically three to 10 times the amount used by a normal home.
"This amendment will help local authorities target and shut down marijuana grow operations more quickly and more efficiently," Minister of Public Safety John Les said in the legislature Thursday, as he introduced Bill 25. "With these amendments, municipalities will now be able to obtain information from electricity companies about residences with unusual power consumption."
Have these cops ever heard of generators? If they make a lot of noise i'm sure if people have enough money they could probably build a sound proof area to put them in, especially if it's to save their crops from bein found. Their efforts seem useless anyway if some growers are capable of tapping into the towns power supply. Large outdoor grows will probably start back up again and gangs will go back to threatning or paying farmers when growing it on their land without permission.

I also think that they will just spread their grow operations out instead of having one large indoor grow.
