I think it was paranoid schizophrenia that made him crazy. Schizophrenics are one group of people who as a rule should NOT smoke pot.

Actually ...schizophrenics...as a group -- tend to smoke cannabis because it is quite soothing to them.

The chicken and the gg argument -- are the mentally ill self medicating or is the self medication with cannabis causational to schizophrenic psychosis.

And may I add to the conundrum with ...what exactly are the UK medics defining as psychosis this time?

Cannabis did not kill their lovely son, lack of proper medical attention from an overburdened system and under-educated family allowed that.

As someone pointed out, the nexus to cannabis did not exist, the victim merely recognized that he became self aware of psychotic behaviour when he smoked cannabis -- perhaps if he smoked cannabis he could have self regulated his behaviou, but we will never know.

Either way, without proper medical treatment, he like most people without proper medical treatment for their mental illness, died.

...not that I would know much about mental illness or its treatment

These people (the parents) are just trying to come to grips with the loss of their child and have picked marijuana as the source of their sons' illness. You and I (the rest of us in this forum) know that it just isn't so. But that doesn't ease the pain these people are suffering.
