According to the article, they have not given the slightest indication what options they will persue. Canada will not extradite anyone to the US without an agreement that he/she will not be given a death penalty. The US would be stupid to risk the cooperation between Canada and the US by doubletalking their way to a death penalty in this case. Also, everyone knows that in the US, a 20 year sentence equates to only 5-8 years with early parole and good behavior.

The US cannot even get a mass murderer extradited to the US if the death penalty is on the table, let alone a mass gardener.

true enough....according to THIS article. However, as you pointedout, it is widely known that Canada would not extridite someone facing the death penalty, therefore for all practical purposes its off the table in every way

20 years in a federal prison means you do 20 years.

Umm, no it doesn't...

I'll sure back that up if you insist, but a simple google search would show you you're wrong.

Emery laid the brickwork not only knowing it was a possibility he'd get charged, but virtually assuring he would.
And to replace "detractors" with another word, let's call them "reasoning skeptics". Meaning? People who look at a situation, and use their heads to come to a logical, reasoned-out conclusions. Skeptical of a claim, and not going into an argument trying to prove it wrong, which I must admit I am guilty of many a time, as well as many other people in this forum. So when they say that Mark Emery wanted to become a martyr, and that martyrdom will help the cause, they've come to that conclusion through logical reasoning.
