Marijuana Found on Courthouse Lawn

(6/13/06 - SIOUX FALLS, SD) - After reporters pointed out that wild marijuana, commonly called ditch weed, was growing on the lawn at the federal courthouse in Sioux Falls, the greenery was eliminated.

City officials and a developer said seeds in dirt brought in for construction must have sprouted.

KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls had it tested to be sure it was ditch weed and brought it to the attention of federal officials last week. None wanted to comment.

Low-grade, wild marijuana was initially grown as hemp to make rope in World War II. But it contains a small amount of the ingredient that makes marijuana smokers high.

Congress made it illegal in 1970 to grow any form of the marijuana plant.

Yep, in the midwest ditchweed is everywhere.

I can't count how many plants I have pulled up in my lawn and garden. The birds just keep spreading and spreading those seeds.

We were at our kid's baseball game last night and my wife and I were walking around the perimeter seeing how many we could find. We stopped at 14.

Beginning of this summer, I added about 200 Mazar seeds to the mix around the town as well.

Hard for them to comment about it too, I guess. It is right before your eyes proof that this "drug war" is not going as planned.

man that'd be some tight shit if there was some ditch weed growin round here, man the only time i seen that shit was when one of my freinds freind said he found 2 plants growin wild on the side of his house haha banana
